10 Punjabi Songs that rocked Bollywood

Rehashing Punjabi songs in Bollywood has been a trend since the song Angreji Beat from YoYo Honey Singh’s album ‘International Villager’ made it to the film ‘Cocktail’ and became a chartbuster. The next on the list to soar the charts were the songs Saturday Saturday and Main Tenu Samjhawan Ki from the film ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. Both these songs were recreated and they topped the charts all through the year. Soon, rehashing Indie music into Bollywood songs became a thing.  

Let’s take a look at the Punjabi songs which were already a hit but their rehashed versions made India dance to its tunes:

Angreji Beat – Cocktail

The song that set the trend of revamping was Angreji Beat from Honey Singh’s album International Villager. We all remember DeepikaPadukone as Veronica grooving on this number.

Saturday Saturday – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya

The already hit Punjabi song with the drooling swag of Indeep Bakshhi made its way back on the screen with the magic of Ali Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. This song was a chartbuster and is still a party anthem.

High Heels – Ki& Ka

Honey Singh in collaboration with Jaz Dhami created this dance number which was later also a part of Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor starrer Ki & Ka.

High Rated Gabru – Nawabzaade

High Rated Gabru is one of the peppiest numbers sung by Guru Randhawa. The song became even more popular as it became part of the film‘Nawabzaade’ starring two of the best dancers of Bollywood, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor.

Kar Gayi Chull – Kapoor & Sons

This song bought fame to the singer Badshaah as an independent talent in the year 2012. In the year 2016, it was adapted in the film Kapoor & Sons featuring Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra and became one of the most danced songs of the year.

Kala Chashma – Baar Baar Dekho

This peppy foot tapping party number was sang by Badshah, though the song was written originally by a Punjabi singer in the 1990’s. The number featuring Katrina Kaif and Siddharth Malhotra is worth the groove.

Main Tera Boyfriend –Raabta

The song was originally sung by J Star, one of the most popular talent in the Punjabi music industry. The song was later adapted in the film Raabta starring Sushant Singh Rajput and KritiSanon and sung by Arijit Singh.

Oh Ho HoHo– Hindi Medium

One of the most played songs by DJ’s across was sung by Sukhbir andIla Singh. The number was picked up in the film Hindi Medium starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar.

Suit Suit Karda– Hindi Medium

One of the gem songs by Guru Randhawa was also adapted in the film Hindi Medium starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar.

Rock The Party – Rocky Handsome

The song that set the mood in the year 2003 was sung by Bombay Rockers. The groovy song was adapted in the year 2016 starring Nora Fatehi and John Abraham .
