Top 14 Comedy titles for April Fools Day

April Fools Day was on 1st April. Though its just a few days since its gone, we hunted down a few a rolling list of rib-tickling films and shows you can watch with your folks or even alone.

Lootcase

Directed by Anu Menon, Lootcase is definitely a ‘loot’ of good performances and a hilarious script. Starring Rasika Duggal, Kunal Khemu, Gajraj Rao, Ranveer Shorey, Vijay Raaz among others, this story has all the ingredients for a perfect dark comedy.

Bro Daddy

This comedy-drama starring Mohan Lal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kalyani Priyadarshan is surely a must-watch for family fun. This lighthearted entertainer about an unplanned pregnancy manages to tickle the funny bone while handling the subject with maturity. 

Life & Beth

Unfolding an introspective comedy that’s dark and funny, this comedy-drama starring the witty Amy Schumer revolves around the life of Beth and how she self-introspects her life leading to funny realisations. The show also stars Violet Young, Michael Cera, Yamaneika Saunders, Michael Rapaport and Susannah Flood.  

Proud Family 

Following the story of Penny Proud, a 14-year-old girl and her family, this animated series is a fun family watch musical comedy and much more. The series also includes the voices of Tommy Davidson, Jo Marie Payton, Paula Jai Parker, Keke Palmer, Alisa Reyes, Karen Malina White, Soleil Moon Frye, and Raquel Lee Bolleau.

Free Guy

Ryan Renold starrer Free Guy is a perfect oscillation between action-comedy and a stealthy rom-com. 'Free Guy' is an outright Ryan Reynolds film. Wide-eyed and poker-faced, he is fun to watch. Judie Comer, as his love interest, is strikingly impressive. And Utkarsh Ambudkar, as Mouser the problem solver, Taika Waititi and Joe Keery, are all-natural and charismatic.

Turning Red 

The film, directed by Domee Shi, tells an unabashedly female story with brave storytelling, solid animation and strong female-led performances with a dash of comedy and fun.  Penned by Domee Shi and Julia Cho and produced by Lindsey Collins, the film’s characters have been voiced by Rosalie Chiang, Sandra Oh, Orion Lee, Ava Morse, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Hyein Park, Wai Ching Ho, James Hong, and others.

Khosla Ka Ghosla

An underrated comedy, the 2006 Khosla Ka Ghosla, not only calls for a good laugh but is also a relatable, feel-good film. A commentary on social issues and the generation gap, Dibakar Banerjee’s debut film highlighted property scams in the most relevant and funny way. Written by Jaideep Sahni, the comedy-drama starres Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, Vinay Pathak, Parvin Dabas, Tara Sharma, Kiran Juneja among others.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

This American sitcom revolves around a gang of five alcoholic, narcissists, running a bar in 5 south Philly is rib-tickling with funny dialogues and scenes that can be watched any time of the day. From the gang trying to win an award to them travelling for a picnic and playing the famous “The Game Of Game”, the chemistry between the gang is phenomenally adorable and of course, funny.  Starring Glenn Howerton and Kaitlin Olson, and more, the series is created by Rob McElhenney.

Badhai Ho 

Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s Badhai Ho is unique with an exciting storyline and direction. With embarrassing good news and family drama, this Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta and Sanya Malhotra starrer has will give you good laugh breaks with its snappy dialogues like when Nakul played by  Khurrana discusses the matter with his girlfriend Renee, played by Sanya Malhotra, he angrily adds, “Jis umar me launde ki shaadi ka intezam karte hain, ye sahbaale ka saath mein kar rahe hain.”

Jolly LLB 2

Even though the film is an earnest attempt to showcase the world of lawyers and their battle for justice, it’s surprisingly funny and filled with witty humour by Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Huma Qureshi and others. Watch it for a good story, and even better comedy, y’all.

Kesu Ee Veedinte Nadhan

Simple yet smart and hilarious. Kesu Ee Veedinte Nadhan revolves around  Kesu and his family. Starring Dileep and Kavitha Ranjhini in lead roles, the story looks at the idea of how fortune favours the good with snappy and fun-filled family moments.  

Hungama 2

Hungama became a cult over the years but Hungama 2 which was released in 2021 is even more slapstick with Romance and Comedy infused together. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film stars Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Asutosh Rana, Akshay Khanna and more.

How I Met Your Father

How I Met Your Father, starring Hillary Duff, Chris Lowel, Francia Rasia and more, is a sitcom you should definitely watch for its bone tickling dialogues, especially by Sid Sharma for his hysterical character that calls for the funniest moments in the series.

Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham 

The film is a laugh riot starring Nivin Pauly and Gracy Anthony. With fun banter and playful errors, the story revolves around a married couple who experience downfall and how they go for an exciting holiday to make things better.
