“The double necked violin has a full orchestral range”: L. Shankar

World Music and Grammy winning music artist Violinist L Shankar performed in Mumbai with his 10 string stereophonic Double Violin on Sunday 16th June 2024 at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA as part of the Aditya Birla - Masters of Music. In attendance was Vikku Vinayakram, V. Selvaganesh alongside Ustad Fazal Qureshi and Swaminathan Selvaganesh, as they come together on stage for an exhilarating performance of carnatic music to fusion, to material from Shakti.

Blinding Lights: Anupam Kunapuli

Hyderabad-based jazz pianist and composer, Anupam Kunapuli, has been playing jazz for over a decade, while overcoming many challenges including blindness. He is greatly inspired by jazz legends Thelonious Monk and the genius of blind pianist Ray Charles. Kunapuli has released two albums that consists of a blend of jazz with Indian classical sounds and recently released his third album in November 2024.

Colonial Comeback: The Colonial Cousins

The musical duo Leslee Lewis and Hariharan burst on the scene in 1996 with their debut self titled album ‘Colonial Cousins’, an album that had songs like Sa Ni Dha Pa and Krishna, in particular, that created a music buzz never seen before. The album went platinum in India and dominated the music charts. The outstanding blend of Indian and Western music generated a soulful melody and lyrics that won a million hearts. Everyone wanted to hear them and get the album.

The Goan Rocker: Remo

At 71, the Padma Shri awardee Remo Fernandes known for several breakout hits in the country rocked the house at the St Andrews auditorium, Bandra, with his band The Microwave Papadums on 15th August 2024. Remo performed in aid of Kripa Foundation’s 43rd anniversary.
