In a showdown of some of the best B-Boying talent in the country, one breaker emerged victorious for the second time in three years of Red Bull BC One in India – B-Boy Flying Machine from Mumbai. Going up against local favourite B-Boy Shawn, Flying Machine put together moves that were deft and original, to beat Shawn in three incredibly closely contested heats. At the end, it was a unanimous decision by the three judges – Red Bull BC One All Stars Pelezinho and Wing, and star South Korean B-Boy Differ – in favour of Flying Machine, who will now represent India at the Red Bull BC One World Finals in Amsterdam in November.
Held in Bangalore for the first time ever, the Red Bull BC One 2017 India Cypher saw fans turn up in huge numbers to support the top 16, who made it through to the final stage after a series of gruelling cyphers across Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. While Shawn defeated fellow Bangalore B-Boy Beast-T and the defending champion B-Boy Abdul on his way to the final battle, Flying Machine saw off Kolkata B-Boy Burst, and B-Boy Demon from Delhi.
Says Flying Machine, “It feels fantastic to have won the Red Bull BC One India Cypher for the second time. The first two years, the finals were in my city, Mumbai, so it definitely feels different to have gone up against the top 16 in a different city. I think the competition has grown very quickly, and will continue to do so, so I’m extremely happy to have won, and looking forward to representing India at the Red Bull BC One World Finals”.
Flying Machine will now travel to Amsterdam for the 14th edition of the Red Bull BC One World Finals, on November 4, to compete at the Last Chance Cypher. He will go up against country winners from across the world for a chance to earn a spot in the top 16 and compete at the Red Bull BC World Finals.
