The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), unveiled a permanent exhibit entitled, Dr. J J Bhabha remembered – A memorial exhibit, in honor of its founding father Dr. Jamshed Bhabha. Inaugurated by Mr. Khushroo N. Suntook, Chairman NCPA, the exhibit brings to the public, various artefacts from the life and legacy of Dr. Bhabha and has been created to inspire future generations to promote various forms of art, which was Dr. Bhabha’s lifelong personal mission.
Talking about the exhibit, Khushroo Suntook, chairman of the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) said, “We are proud to present a permanent memorial for Dr. Jamshed Bhabha, who is the founding Father of the NCPA. Focus of NCPA has always been on the upliftment and preservation of the performing arts, which would not have been possible without Dr. Bhabha’s vision. His valued time and dedication at NCPA has immensely influenced young minds and helped us reach the stature that we have today. We are honored and proud to pay a tribute to the man who has helped establish this platform which welcomes talented artists from all over the world.”
The exhibit covers Dr. Bhabha’s life and work in three distinct parts.
- The first section highlights Dr. Bhabha’s background, upbringing, and his deep family bonds, the relationships he shared with his immediate family and friends.
- The second section is a dedicated timeline re-counting profound occasions in his life and his unyielding contributions to the arts.
- The third section boasts of Dr. Bhabha’s creation – NCPA; the formation, the support he garnered from various institutions and renowned personalities, the advancement of gifted artists through the institute and the current place the NCPA holds in the world of performing arts.
The memorial is placed at the right wing of the main entrance to the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre. In order to make it dynamic, there will be continuously running AV footage to ensure that the information is kept up-to-date and fresh information is disseminated to the public.
The exhibit is expected to been seenby not just the thousands of audiences who come to watch performances at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre everyday but also important visitors/students/dignitaries visiting NCPA. To ensure the viewer gets something new to see each time they visit, a part of the exhibition will be changed every four months through careful curation.
