Billboard Music Awards 2018 winners list is all about the numbers

Did you get a chance to watch the Billboard Music Awards live or were you one of the lucky few to actually witness it on Sunday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas?  

This year celebrates the 60th Anniversary of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart which has been honoring music’s hottest artists since 1958. It’s a moment of celebration, and the event is going to be one grand show. Host Kelly Clarkson revealed that she has 20 costume changes lined up for the three-hour broadcast. Who will lead the winners list was a big question, you had Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran the top 3 nominees dominating this year’s award show racked up with 15 nominations each. All three men are competing for categories including – ‘Top Artists, Top Song Sales, Top 100 songs among other honours.

Whether it’s a clan or solo track, Drake has made it 162 times in the Billboard Top 100 list. He is up this year with 9 nominations including ‘Top Artist’ and ‘Top Album’ amongst others. Taylor Swift holds the title of the ‘Top Winner’ of all-time with 21 trophies under her belt. This year she is nominated in 5 categories such as ‘Top Artist’ and ‘Top Selling Album. 

The 2018 Billboard Music Awards featured performances from Janet Jackson, who accepted the 2018 Billboard Music Awards ICON Award and performed for the first time on television in nine years, as well as BTS, Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande, John Legend, Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran with collaborations from Christina Aguilera featuring Demi Lovato, Camila Cabello and Pharrell Williams, Khalid & Normani, Jennifer Lopez featuring DJ Khaled, Macklemore and Kesha, Salt-N-Pepa featuring En Vogue, Shawn Mendes & Khalid and Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey.

A slew of artists took the stage to perform throughout the night, including John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande. Korean pop band BTS became the first ever Korean act to perform at the ceremony, debuting their new single Fake Love. They also took home the award for Top Social Artist.
