Alluri featuring Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols live at Hard Rock Cafe this month.

With a sound that melds a gamut of aspects into a distinctive whole, Alluri is a genre-hopping, internationally known indie singer, songwriter, composer, who now splits his time between Italy, India, and the UK. He will be taking the stage at some very iconic venues in India this August to bring alive his unique tunes.

His first gig will be at Hard Rock Café Worli on August 10th. Sharing the stage with him will be none other than Glen Matlock, bass guitarist in the original line-up of the punk rock band the Sex Pistols. Also on stage are saxophonist Domenico Mamone - who has played with the likes of Red Hot Chilli Peppers & Tom Jones, bassist Roberto Dragonetti - who tours with Nic Cester, (frontman of Jet) and Calibro 35, Davide Arzuffi on drums - a musician & teacher at some of the top music schools in Italy, and keyboardist Pietro Ubaldi - the music director & keyboardist of "Ghostbusters Live”. Together, they promise to bring the stage alive with their electrifying combination of energy, passion, and love for music & its many nuances. Once the stage goes silent, Dj Russel, one of India’s top retro/rock disc jockeys will take over the console, to keep the vibe going.

“There is something truly unique about this gig for us as we have played around Europe and India but never in Mumbai and are thus really excited to do this at Hard Rock in Worli,” points out Shriram Alluri. “Music royalty such as Glen joining us on stage is the icing on the cake. It will be our first time playing with him! These firsts will make for an exhilarating gig. We kick off our set with a mix of my Telugu and English songs, followed by Glen doing a brief solo set, after which we will all perform together. We plan to leave it all on the stage and hope to bring the ceiling down.”

Then, in a first-of-its-kind project ever in India, Alluri is bringing together a collaborative live Telugu rock music concert in Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad on August 18.The concert, in partnership with Italian musicians Paolo Raineri (trumpet), Roberto Dragonetti (bass), Davide Arzuffi (drums), Pietro Ubaldi (keyboard), alluri (vocals/electric guitar), along with Hyderabad musicians Ranga (flute) & Murli (tabla), is a ground-breaking venture that will be a congregation of the very best talent, and will enable a new generation of fans to see, hear, and feel Alluri’s music in a previously unimagined way.

“I will be playing 12 songs from my album O Katha: Tales of This Telugu Man. I had written this album three years ago when I was suffering from an identity crisis after having exclusively written songs only in English. I have played these songs in England, France, and Estonia; hence singing these songs in Hyderabad finally is an absolute thrill. There will be some old Telugu covers too. An exciting local talent will be opening the show, so it is going to be an exciting night and I believe nobody in Hyderabad should miss it,” adds Alluri.

Get ready for a rocking and electrifying August that is sure to remain in your musical memory for some time to come.
