‘This Is My Hood’ a documentary explores thriving hip-hop spaces around India, out now

From Marol in Mumbai to Hauz Khas in New Delhi, and Lake Gardens in Kolkata to Vyasarpadi in Chennai, ‘This Is My Hood’ is the story of four thriving hip-hop spaces around India. Produced by Red Bull Media House, the documentary series explores these neighbourhoods and the people who helped create and keep alive the scenes within them.

Through the course of the series, ‘This Is My Hood’ highlights how rap battles gave rise to a flourishing scene in Delhi, how local breakers discovered an abandoned warehouse in Lake Gardens and made it their own, how the village of Marol became an unexpected breeding ground for graffiti artists and breakers through support from residents, and how folk music in the suburb of Vyasarpadi was used as the base for rap and RnB artists in the impoverished Chennai neighbourhood.

Red Bull has made a new four-part series on hip-hop spaces (and the people within them) in India, covering Bombay, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. Each of these spaces has their own unique and very authentic story to tell.
