This November, some of the world’s biggest dancers will journey to Mumbai for the first-ever Red Bull BC One Camp in India. A celebration of hip-hop culture featuring a host of exciting battles, workshops, panels and more, Camp will run from November 7 to 9 at Famous Studios, Mahalaxmi, Mumbai.
Red Bull BC One Camp Mumbai will be followed by the Red Bull BC One World Final at Dome, NSCI, on November 9, where the world’s best breakers will go head-to-head to take the belt and earn the title of Red Bull BC One World Champion.
All workshops and panels and several battles at the Red Bull BC One Camp Mumbai are open to the public, and those interested are required to register for each session. If you’d rather be a spectator to the battles, sign up for a day viewing pass and watch all the action go down on the main Camp floor.
To round off the celebration each day are after parties, featuring the likes of legendary British musician Apache Indian, DJ Fleg, who was also the DJ for the Red Bull BC One World Final 2018, DJ Skeme Richards from Philadelphia, house dancer and DJ Kapela, who also features on the Camp line-up, and some of the finest Indian DJs including MoCity, Uri, Spindoc and Ishani. The programme – battles, workshops and more
With three action-packed days, Red Bull BC One Camp Mumbai promises to be the biggest Camp programme yet – over 17 workshops, 11 battles and an immersive panel. Among the battles to watch are: The Last Chance Cypher and B-Girl World Final Top 4 Selection, which will be held on November 7 and determine the final line-up for the Red Bull BC One World Final, the Continent Battle on November 8 and Represent, the Indian crew battle on November 9.
The Last Chance Cypher for B-Boys will be held on the evening on November 7, followed by the B-Girl World Final Top 4 Selection. These battles will determine the final line-up of 16 B-Boys and four B-Girls who go head-to-head on the World Final stage on the evening of November 9.
Amongst the most iconic and enjoyable battles to watch, the Continent Battle, which will be held on day two of Camp, sees breakers from each continent team up and battle each other in a showcase of ultimate talent. Then, closing the battles at Camp on day three before the action moves to the World Final stage is Represent, an Indian crew battle that will see some of the top crews in the country take on each other and battle for glory.
The three-day camp programme also includes several workshops, all of which are open to dancers to participate in. These include workshops on breaking conducted by Red Bull BC One All StarsLilou, Neguin, Junior and Lil G, as well as legendary names in the scene such as Poe One and Omar – with the latter also being the first-ever winner of a Red Bull BC One World Final – house workshops by the likes of MaMSoN and Kapela, hip-hop workshops by Diablo and Kyoka, popping workshops by Dassy and much more.
Day two of the Red Bull BC One Camp schedule also includes what promises to be an enriching discussion, a panel on the ‘Origins of Street Culture’, moderated by Mo City (co-founder, Boxout.fm), with panellists Apache Indian, Storm (German dance pioneer), DJ Uri (turntablist), Hanif Qureshi (artist, co-founder St+art) and Abhineet Singh (co-founder Veg/Non Veg).
