Katy Perry all set to ‘roar’ in Mumbai

"I’m back after seven years. I’ve always wanted to come to Mumbai", said American pop star Katy Perry at a press conference at a city hotel. Perry, who has visited India before, was delighted to be in Mumbai and soak in its culture. Days before her first ever concert in Mumbai at the OnePlus Music Festival, Perry hopes to do some shopping with the help of Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandes and also try out some Indian food.

On a rapid fire question round, Perry was at her best. When asked the one food she could never give up, she retorted saying, “Chicken Nuggets”. “Chicken fingers, but chickens don’t have fingers; they actually do but then Nah”.

Dressed in a yellow dotted pink polka dot knee length dress, Perry mesmerized the media with her quick wit and broad smile every now and then. She stated that Dua Lipa, Billie Elish were the next wonderful generation who will take over the music scene soon.

Bollywood has fascinated the singer since long and when asked who she really liked, it was an obvious choice to name the host for the concert Jacqueline Fernandes who was seated on the dais with her.

Perry who has visited India in 2012, when she performed at the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Chennai, she didn’t get a chance to discover India, so this time she hopes to see a few places to educate herself on “the culture of the country”.

Speaking from the heart when questioned on her secret to happiness, Perry stated that it’s a constant journey, “It’s not a destination, but for me what I’ve noticed is that its balanced, it not just to prove in the music, its having your family, its having your loved ones, its having your fiancé, it’s the whole of all of that, its balance, its stillness, its God, its humility, its gratefulness, like if you can start your day out every day with gratitude as the first word that pops into your head, I know you will be a happier person, I know that works as that’s what I’ve been practicing for the last couple of years, and it definitely has changed my mind set. Yes I can be difficult at times, because I demand a lot, but I try and always centre myself every single day and the first thing I think and the last thing I think before I go to bed”.

Perry who arrived on 12th November morning at 3 am, didn’t show signs of fatigue despite the long flight. Despite a slight delay in making it to the press conference, she addressed the media and gave a message to all her fans screaming out, “I’m here bitch”, amid cheers from everyone. “I know you’ve waited so long, and I’ve taken that into account, therefore I am gonna give you a feast for your kiss and your eyes and we will make it a night to remember”.

The OnePlus Music Festival takes place on 16th November at 3 pm at D.Y. Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. It also features singer Dua Lipa.
