U2 arrive in Mumbai for debut concert on Sunday

It was certainly a ‘Beautiful Day’ for U2 fans who thronged the Mumbai airport to welcome rock band U2 who arrived lat night. The four band members bassist Adam Clayton, singer Paul David “Bono Vox” Hewson (that meant ‘beautiful voice’ in Latin) and guitarist Dave “The Edge” Evans, – The Edge, Bono, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr posed for the paparazzi and fans alike. All of them were quite free with the media and posed happily for pictures.

The latter part of 2019 has been really exciting and special for all the international music lovers in India, what with pop singer Katy Perry and Dua Lipa peforming for the first time here. Now, it’s time for yet another international band to take over the stage at the same venue Perry and Lipa performed.

The band was formed back in the year 1976 in Dublin and has been inseparable since then. They are accredited with the creation of some amazing musical numbers like With or Without You, Beautiful Day, One, Vertigo, Elevation, and many others.

Besides India, the band performed in New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the Philippines as a part of the Joshua Tree tour. India will be the final stop of the tour. Oscar-winning music composer A R Rahman will reportedly be opening for the band's performance, along with his two daughters performing the song Ahimsa, a collaborative single with the rock band.

It is only The Joshua Tree Tour (1987) wherein the band has embarked for the second time for the same album. And why not, after all it is rock’s Best album ever. U2’s sixth album ‘The Joshua Tree’ released in March 1987 became the fastest selling album in British chart history, selling almost 250,000 copies in the first week of release and it is no wonder that the tour U2: The Joshua Tree Tour is named after the album.

Packed with powerful performances by each member, fans of U2 are sure to have an unforgettable night at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on 15th December 2019 as they join Bono in singing each U2 song and recall the stories behind it.
