Nepal born Canadian singer Curtis Waters has revealed details of his forthcoming debut album ‘Pity Party.’ The highly anticipated full-length, was written and produced by the 20-year-old artist and producer and will be released on 9th October. Songs like Stunnin Ft Harm Franklin,’ SYSTEM’ The Feelings Tend To Stay The Same and Freckles are all taken from ‘Pity Party,’ alongside 8 additional, previously unheard tracks.
Waters debut single Stunnin Ft. Harm Franklin continues to gain momentum as it nears the Top 40 in the U.S, also surpassing 300 million global combined streams, and averaging on 4 millions streams per day.
The 20-year-old musician’s debut hit single Stunnin’ went viral after its release in May, with over 30 million streams and 380,000 user-generated videos to date. Curtis shot the video for the song, which was written based on a beat sent to him by his friend Declan Hoy and features Harm Franklin, in his garage and launched his own campaign for the track, using TikTok to hype the single. The song’s success attracted calls from record labels and Curtis signed a license deal with BMG in June, keeping 100 percent control of the music. His second single, System, dropped in June, inspired by his experience feeling like a commodity to record labels, as well as the anger he felt after the death of George Floyd.
The album, written as the musician was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, embraces both a carefree, fun spirit and a depressed, uncomfortably honest feeling, and reveals Curtis’ versatility as an artist.
“My songs reflect how I feel that day,” Curtis notes. “I try not to box myself in. If you listen to the album every song sounds completely different. They’re completely different genres and ideas. I listen to so much music and I soak so many different influences in, so I’m a product of everything I’m into. I’m into so much random stuff and I want to bring it all into the Curtis Waters universe.”
