Justin Bieber has teamed up with co-writers Benny Blanco and Finneas O’Connell, known mononymously as Finneas, for a new song titled Lonely.
The song arrived with a Jake Schreier-directed video clip, depicting a young Bieber, played by Jacob Tremblay, exploring an empty theatre. The lyrics tell a story of loneliness despite success, which Tremblay portrays in his solemn acting.
Bieber released his first album in five years, ‘Changes’, back in February. Since ‘Changes’, Bieber has released the singles Stuck with U featuring Ariana Grande and Holy with Chance The Rapper.
The just-released track, takes a raw, unflinching look at Bieber's early career and his struggles along the way. The emotional ballad doesn't hold back, with lyrics like: "What if you had it all, but nobody to call? Maybe then you'd know me. 'Cause I've had everything but no one's listening, and that's just f---ing lonely. I'm so lonely."
He even references his very public low points, at one point singing, "Everybody knows my past now, like my house was always made of glass. Maybe that's the price you pay for the money and fame at an early age. And everybody saw me sick, and it felt like no one gave a s---. They criticized the things I did as an idiot kid."
You may not be a fan of Justin Bieber, but this song is so raw, nobody can imagine what Justin went through. Everybody has their story, their demons to fight. One can only feel sorry for everything that happened to him. Nobody deserves to feel like that.
