There’s good news for fans of Susmit Bose. Free School Street Records will soon bring out the iconic album ‘Train to Calcutta’ on vinyl once again after its original release in 1978.
As many of you may know, the cult classic, ‘Train to Calcutta’ was originally released in 1978 as privately pressed vinyl and is now ultra-rare. The original LPs are still sold on Discogs and eBay at insane sum of €800-1000. Considering the popular demand from ardent fans, Free School Street Records have decided to reissue the album on limited edition vinyl and are happy that finally fans will be able to fulfill their longtime wish to own a copy of this coveted record at an affordable price.
‘Train to Calcutta’ will be reissued on strictly Limited Edition, hand-numbered vinyl LP of 200 copies under. The LP will feature an unreleased live track as bonus and faithfully restored artwork with closest possible resemblance with the original LP. As an icing on the cake, all LP copies will be personally autographed by the urban folk legend, Susmit Bose himself. The tentative release of the LP is expected in April-May 2021.
The front artwork of the reissue LP, was faithfully restored by Arup Ghoshal keeping the original LP cover in mind. The album has been mastered for vinyl reissue by fellow music fan, Rajiv Pandey in Dallas, Texas, and the new master is a significant enhancement of the sound quality as compared to the original LP, which was recorded in a basic studio back in late '70s.
The LPs will be pressed from one of the leading vinyl pressing plants in Europe. Free School Street Records have tied up with Mumbai based hi fi music store for everything in vinyl - The Revolver Club (www.therevolverclub.com), as their exclusive Record Store partner for promotion, sale and distribution of the LPs worldwide.
