Recently the folks at Sonic Age Records from Athens, Greece, decided on releasing the Wanka album ‘The Orange Album’on vinyl and CD with bonus tracks. This rare and obscure classic heavy progressive rock album from Canada, Wanka – ‘The Orange Album’ will be released on the Greek record label, Cult Rock Classics/Sonic Age Records.
The album was originally released in 1977 on Toronto-based record label, Axe Records and was produced by Jon Bojicic, while the Executive Producer was Terry Brown, legendary producer of many albums of Canadian progressive rock giants, Rush. The album is being reissued with full consent of the band on deluxe limited edition vinyl of 300 copies with 1 live bonus track and deluxe limited edition CD of 500 copies with 6 live bonus tracks. The tentative release of the album is later this year.
Howard Samuel, lead guitarist of Wanka comments on this reissue, "I'm proud to announce This is being done in cooperation with Aveek Chatterjee aka Heavy Rock from Calcutta, West Bengal, India and Janne Stark from Sweden. This is truly an international effort. I and the 2 other founding members of the band, Mark and Chris started Wanka when I lived in Toronto around 1977. We say thank you to Manos (owner of Sonic Age Records), Aveek (Chatterjee) and Janne (Stark) for your efforts in bringing back our musical contribution to the World”.
This is the first ever full-fledged official reissue of the album which was releasd in 2007, except the limited edition CDR reissue with 5 live bonus tracks. Aveek Chatterjee is supervising and co ordinating the entire reissue project alongwith Howard Samuel, on behalf of Wanka. Janne Stark from Sweden, an accomplished and veteran heavy rock guitarist himself (Grand Design, Overdrive, Merryweather-Stark, Locomotive Breath, Mountain of Power and a plethora of other bands) is taking care of reissue artwork design, while Manos Koufakis, owner of the Sonic Age Records, is looking after the audio mastering, production, promotion and distribution of the album. Aveek's son Arko, is taking care of releasing the YouTube single from the album.
The Wanka reissue project team is looking forward to the support of rock music fans around the world while this lost classic and unleash is released to the world in all its glory.
