Italian violinist Luca Ciarla's new single and video ‘Maredifollia’ mesmerizes

Maredifollia, Italian violinist Luca Ciarla’s new single and video, is available on all digital stores now. Produced by Violipiano Records and distributed by The Orchard, a branch of Sony Music Entertainment, the single was recorded on the occasion of the streaming concert for the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, held at the Tremiti Islands last September.

A unique and fascinating experience for the musician, originally from nearby Termoli (Molise), who last September should have left for one of his frequent tours in North America with stops in New York, Cleveland, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Vancouver, Vermont, Connecticut and Alaska for the first time.

An astonishing piece in which with his original solOrkestra the artist plays the violin, sings, improvises, creates fascinating loops with a strong Mediterranean flavour; a further step towards his next album to be released in late spring. The official video, broadcast on YouTube again on March 17 at 19:00 Italian time, was extrapolated from the concert-documentary entitled Sunset concert at the Tremiti Islands, shot by the same artist who wanted to live a solo experience, shooting and playing in every corner of the islands for three consecutive days.

Marefollia lends itself to different interpretations, as the artist himself suggests. "The Mediterranean is a sea extraordinarily rich in history and wonderful places but also in contrasts like perhaps no other sea in the world. In such a difficult time of our existence, I want to dedicate a thought to those who must abandon their lives by embarking on a crazy journey necessary for their survival. After all, in this period tormented by the pandemic, we all have embarked on an experience at the limit of our possibilities. The fragility of our living together should make us reflect further more on how important it is to always reach out to those in need."

However, the song is also a tribute to the irresistible beauty of the Tremiti Islands. "A magical place to which I am particularly attached, with a wonderful sea that leaves you breathless. A place where you can breathe an unusual air, a healthy island madness that hides an enormous potential not yet fully expressed".
