Singer songwriter Shahin Badar collaborates with Celt Islam on the track ‘Ignition’
Shahin Badar, a versatile award winning singer/ songwriter, is world famous for her vocals in The Prodigy's 3 U.K. No.1 albums, the alaap chants in the banger 'Smack My Bitch Up' made her legendary and 'Get Up, Get Off'' further added to her popularity. The multimillion selling album, 'Fat of The Land' made Shahin Badar the recipient of a Quadruple platinum Disc award and got her an entry into the Guinness book of records in 1999 for the fastest selling UK album. She is also credited with successful albums like 'Laila' (Times Music) and 'Destiny'.
Badar makes a mark with a brand new track with UK electronic pioneer Celt Islam who emerges from lockdown with his self styled LP ‘Acid Anarchist’ that delivers a bone crushing bass driven music that takes you from dub to delirium while combining Islamic and world grooves.
Those who don’t know Celt Islam is an English pioneering artist, producer and peace activist performing high octane Neuro Dub Driven Electro Break beat Drum and Bass, transnational dub step and Future Synthwave electronica with a twist of the Orient. Using a fusion of music which combines Islamic and world grooves to create a dub driven dance crossover, the unique sound of Islam is a fusion of western and middle eastern influences combined with a futurist Islamic dub attitude.
Highlights from the album include Islam’s collaboration with Badar on the track Ignition as a haunting livicaction to the band’s late frontman Keith Flint (The Prodigy). The melody and lyrics are penned by Badar and produced by Celt Islam. Her mesmerizing and high vocals are nothing short of surreal and put you in a trance at the very first beats. The high octane piece is catchy and reeks of ace production and great musicianship.
Another standout is the vocals of Iration steppers Mark Iration on Born as an Afrikan. There are other collaborations with well known names such as Inder Goldfinger on three tracks, tabla player for Stone Roses legend, Ian Brown’s band and Winachi Tribe. Natacha Atlas features on the track System Reset, while Nation records founder Aki Nawaz is featured on the last track Hikam. The fun loving smiley on the cover of the album is a definite invite to go out and listen to the 13 track album and get entranced. Better still buy your own copy.
Badar for herself has also collaborated with various world renowned producers across the world covering music genres like EDM, Trance, House, Trip Hop, Pop, Sufi, over which she implemented her production ideas.

Badar also featured on producer and Dee Montero’s record label (Futurescope) single Sapphire. From the melancholic drones of the Indian tanpura rooting the songs key, Badar gives a great edge to this track, with effervescent vocals drifting between the grooving grids of timeless house sounds. Her vocals of SMBU were recently sampled by US Hip Hop Rapper Asap Ferg for his single Floor seats. Badar also features on the track Nazreh Mili on Kaya Project’s 2018 album ‘Up from the Dust’, now released on vinyl as a double album.
