9th Pearl Padamsee Trophy for Excellence in Speech and Drama.

In keeping with the love for the arts and theatre, Raëll Padamsee, leaves no stone unturned and constantly thrives to promote theatre amongst the youth and always tries to give them fantastic opportunities to showcase their talents on a larger platform. One such example is the Pearl Padamsee Trophy for Excellence in Speech and Drama, the elocution competition that she holds year after year and it’s now in its 9th year and it’s in the loving memory of her mother Pearl Padamsee.

This 2013 the horizons have widened and the reach has spread far beyond. The only aim is to be able to reach out to more children so that they can showcase their brilliance on stage, so that no child fears the stage and elocutes confidently.

For the first time there are 3 different age groups 4 to 6 years, 7 to 9 years and 10 to 13 years. The theme for the first two age groups is ‘Equality for All’ and the theme for the last age group is very specific ‘Gender – Equality for All’. This theme has been chosen, so that children could be sensitized towards this issue from a very young age and understand the meaning of true equality and thereby inculcate good values through the form of elocution.

We have invited about 60 schools across the city to be a part of this prestigious elocution competition. The children from the three different age groups will elocute and perform on the basis of the theme with the adequate use of costumes and props to enhance their overall presentation.

After going through two elimination rounds, the finalists chosen will go on to perform on 23rd November, 2013 at the finals of the 9th Pearl Padamsee Trophy for Excellence in Speech and Drama at the Rangswar Hall, Y.B. Chavan auditorium.

In the entire process, the students will be judged by eminent personalities from the field of theatre and they will receive expert comments on their performances. Celebrities too will join in and boost the morale of the participants and the winning children will receive trophies from the Academy for Creative Expression (ACE).
