Canadian-Lebanese Pianist Steve Barakatt to bring a spellbinding performance to the Royal Opera House Mumbai

Royal Opera House Mumbai, Avid Learning, Rainbow Bridge Story, Motherland, Universal Music Mena, and Harmix present The Néoréalité Concert: A Symphony of Piano Anthems. As part of Composer and Pianist Steve Barakatt’s Néoréalité World Tour, he brings a one-of-a-kind experience to Mumbai that traverses through his vast repertoire while exploring the themes of individual transformation, perseverance, and collective strength in the face of seismic global challenges.

Highlighting the aforementioned themes would be two special works, including Lullaby, The UNICEF Anthem, a powerful piece that premiered from the International Space Station and emblematic movements from Ad Vitam Aeternam, Barakatt’s symphonic masterpiece that premiered on September 30, 2005, at the Grand Théâtre de Québec with Orchestre symphonique de Québec. Both works encapsulate a tribute to hope, unity, and global solidarity. Through captivating projections and carefully crafted musical narratives, the performance transcends multidisciplinary boundaries while tapping into our shared realities with heartfelt intensity.

Steve Barakatt, a Canadian artist of Lebanese heritage, is an award-winning composer, pianist, music producer, and creative director with a career spanning over three decades. A prolific recording artist, Barakatt has sold over five million albums worldwide, and his music catalogue has amassed over 250 million views on YouTube. In addition to his success as a performer and recording artist, Barakatt is the world’s most recognized composer of official anthems. His works include Lullaby, The UNICEF Anthem, which was launched across five continents and even broadcast from the International Space Station, symbolizing a powerful message of unity and hope.

“The situation of great social changes was ideal for me to be alone at the piano and create with authenticity. Néoréalité is like a parallel world, a long journey into the land of imagination. A quest for purpose.” Shares Barakatt.

Steve Barakatt is a Knight of the National Order of Quebec and has been recognized by several heads of state. Barakatt is a Universal Music MENA artist, with his music catalogue represented by Universal Music Publishing Group.

The piano, with its 88 keys and boundless potential for expression, has reigned supreme as a solo instrument for centuries. Its versatility allows it to capture the entire spectrum of human emotion, from gentle melodies to passionate crescendos. Unlike orchestral pieces, the piano solo places the composer's vision directly in the hands of a single performer. This intimate setting allows the pianist to become a storyteller, weaving tales of joy, sorrow, and everything in between, through their skillful playing. With each note, the pianist breathes life into works, revealing the intricate beauty of their compositions and offering listeners a profound glimpse into their musical genius.

The Royal Opera House, Mumbai, with its rich history and grandeur, constantly strives to present the classic, diverse, and contemporary genres attracting music lovers of all ages and backgrounds by bringing in leading musicians, maestros, composers, conductors, vocalists, and virtuosos from around the country and across the globe to the maximum city. Being India’s only surviving Opera House, it recognizes the importance of leveraging the stage to showcase the eternal beauty and skill of our traditional performing arts while also exposing the audiences to multidisciplinary cross-genre fusions and collaborations.
