This young artiste has experimented with his music and taken the 100-stringed Santoor to various genres ranging from classical to folk, new age and world fusion. A few of his milestone albums are 'Music of the Himalayas' which he did for Peter Gabriel's label Real World Records. This was primarily folk music from the Himalayan region. His new age album 'Zen' got the best instrumental album award from MTV IMMIES India. He has also done recent live recordings with tabla percussion wizard Zakir Hussain. And in 2011, Rahul released 'Namaste India' with Kenny G.

Rahul Sharma studied music and the Santoor with his father Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, who is famous for bringing the little-known santoor from the valleys of Kashmir to the arena of Indian Classical Music.
