The second edition of the Sunburn Festival Mumbai with its unbeatable line up of world class artists left Mumbai spellbound. This power packed music extravaganza set over 2 days with 2 stages, 19 artists, 28 hours of music and 20 experience zones, all under one roof at the Mahalakshmi Race Course, got Mumbaikars entranced.
As electrifying as its Goa counterpart, the Mumbai festival has brought all elements of a full-fledged festival. Lounges, chill-out zones, libraries, movie projections, graffiti walls, art installations, flea markets, and a 40 foot adventure tower with rappling and rock climbing are just some of the activities to keep Sunburners busy throughout the two-days. Held back to back for the first time the artist line up across the 2 days had music heavy weights, Paul Van Dyk, Fedde Le Grand, OrjanNilson, Josh Wink, Adam Beyer and Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike to name a few.
Day one witnessed Mumbai truly living it up, with an opening set by Sartek, who got the crowd pumping with his signature beats. Sunburn resident DJ Shaan, who has been burning up the Indian dance music circuit and performing around the world since the age of 15, took to the stage with his set which he says is truly close to his heart, was an ultimate crowd pleaser. As the day progressed, with contagious energy, Orjan Nilsen upped the tempo with his set and got the fans wanting more.
For the love of music, the crowd was torn between 2 massive closing sets, as legendary DJ Paul Van Dyk busted out a killer set on stage one and the music power house that is Fedde Le Grand had the crowd foot stomping to his tunes on stage 2.
With hours of unforgettable music, Mumbaikars were left speechless as day 1 of the Sunburn Festival Mumbai came to a close ending on a crescendo and only left fans wanting more.
A massive turn- out was seen on day 2 as fans thronged the Mahalakshmi Race Course once again for the ultimate festival experience.
Day 2 of the Sunburn festival brought a spectacular end to the music extravaganza in the city. The festival gave way to high energy sets as Mumbaikars bore witness to a brand new property presented by Sunburn- ‘Afterburn’ which truly elevated the festival experience to the next level.
Premiering for the first time, Sunburn’s new property- ‘Afterburn’ goes beyond mainstream EDM and provides the evolved music lover with a range of some of the best in underground music. It has been launched with the aim to develop a space to showcase the highest levels of artistic talent in this specific music genre, giving fans a mind blowing experience with cutting edge visual and installation art. Day 2 of the Mumbai festival launched this massive property through the ‘Afterburn’ stage with the bang, hosting some of the best global and local talent in the underground music space such as Adam Beyer, Josh Wink, Jitter,Kohra and ArjunVagale. Fans, took to the stage in hoards as Kohra and Jitter set the tempo for the ultimate underground/ techno experience.
Another first for Sunburn Mumbai, Resident DJ’s at the Tomorrowland festival, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike premiered their ‘Smash the House Stage’ exclusively at Sunburn, featuring music power house Tom Staar and Wolfpack. The crowd foot stomped for hours at a stretch and left the stage completely entertained with Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike’s antics to get the crowd going.
As the final sets played in the background, bringing the Sunburn Festival Mumbai to a close, Shailendra Singh, Joint Managing Director, Percept Ltd, said, “The premiere of our new property- ‘Afterburn’, saw crowds reach a new level of euphoria.
