Angaraag Mahanta, better known as Papon is on a double high! Not only did he win the Best Pop Album award last night at the GiMA awards, but he has now also been given an exclusive opportunity to be a special guest and experience the Red Bull Music Academy that takes place in Paris this year. Now in its 5th edition, GiMA is the most definitive platform that honours talent in Indian music.

Monica Dogra, actress and singer better known as the one half of the electro rock duo Shaa'ir and Func, also visited the Academy as a guest artist while it was held in Tokyo, last year. While Monica last year and Papon this year visit the academy as special guests for a limited duration, the previous editions have had, drummer and music producer Jivraj Singh, mohan-veena player Jeet Gupta and music producer Sonal D’Silva represent India as participants at the Academy for a period of 2 weeks where they got to collaborate with fellow musicians in the Academy’s custom-built studiosand perform at the most iconic venues.

“I’m super excited to be going to Red Bull Music Academy 2015 in Paris! I’m very thankful to everyone who made this happen and I’m really looking forward to it” says Papon, who coming from a musically attuned family, has been playing music since an early age. The versatile artist and composer has his roots in folk with a wide variety of influences and has not only collaborated with some of the most talented Indian artists and bands but also made a mark for himself in Bollywood.
