This March, Teamwork Arts brings you the Sounds of Freedom (SOF) concert - a celebration of the freedom of creative expression, through music, live performances and a coming together of young people to share their ideas on social inclusion. #SOF aims to reaffirm the importance of imagination, creativity and standing up for a cause, of sustaining and enriching conversations around the right to democracy, freedom to be, to choose to live freely without fear of discrimination. So mark your calendars for the 3rd of March, and get ready to witness this exciting concert at the Amity University in Noida.
Here is your quick guide to the 5 reasons why you shouldn’t miss Sounds of Freedom this year:
1) Real Voices of Freedom: Natya Rasta and Vocal Rasta, facilitated by the Yuva Ekta Foundationand Teamwork Arts as a part of the Sounds of Freedom youth outreach program, will perform across the city and at the SOF Concert – urging people to embracethe right tofreedom of creative expression. Natya Rasta will showcase their extraordinary Street Play 'Gender Bender' – taking a hard look at social conditioning, attitudes and beliefs, provoking audiences into self-introspection towards the idea of evolving to a more 'gender-just' world. Vocal Rasta.too, will bring together a rich repertoire celebrating the Freedom of Creative Expression through renditions of popular songs including, “Ederlezy” by Goran Bregovic, “Earth” by Imogen Heap, Hum Dekho Chal Pade, composed specially by Kailash Kher for the Sounds of Freedom Concert last year, among many others.
2) Experience the Power of Creative Expression:From Raghu Dixit’s unique brand of infectious, happy music to the electric live sets of Madboy/Mink, and from the psychedelic ethno-funk tunes of Tritha to the rhythmic traditions of Rajasthani folk music by Kutle Khan, the impressive line-up of artists will come together to showcase ever evolving Indie music as an expression of new identities and voices. 3) Experience the magic of Dindigul Sakthi Drummers: Witness the magical folk performances of the Dindigul Sakthi Drummers on themes around Women’s liberation and empowerment.Come support them in their efforts to awaken women to the many forms of discrimination they face in society and enable them to stand up against oppression and discrimination.
4) Expression Zone:Get an opportunity to express yourself and ‘Be the Voice’ with the “Freedom Wall” set up by United Colors of Benetton. Pledge your support towards a cause that you care about, and unleash your creativity through the Freedom Wall. Moreover, connect with NGOs supporting a range of causes, at the Expression Zone, and truly help give back to society.
5) Celebs supporting Sounds of Freedom: UN Women Goodwill Ambassadors Farhan Akhtar and Sania Mirza will support the Sounds of Freedom Concert and encourage sign-ups for the #HeForShe campaign. Farhan Akhtar will also perform with his band Farhan LIVE in support of the MARD (Men Against Rape & Discrimination)
