Close on the heels of his first hit single “Come into my Room” which climbed all the way to No.5 on the MTV Indies, ad-man and singer song-writer Shouvik Roy has released the video for his second song ‘I Don’t Understand Me’.
Crowd-produced like the last one, Shouvik Roy’s video is a labour of love by three people from three different continents. The music video for ‘I don’t Understand Me’ was directed by Los Angeles-based director, Aditya Vishwanath and produced by Marta Carracedo, a Spanish producer, director and story teller. It tells the story of three conflicted individuals. One of them sings in a bar but has a separate corporate life which is very plush. Then there is another individual who faces relationship problems and a third person who faces emotional trauma because of her relationship with her mother. “It all came together in the last few months. The storyline is completely Aditya’s imagination. We sat together and decided on this idea as it fit very well with the lrics of the song,” says Shouvik Roy.
Currently on air on Pepsi MTV Indies, the new single has a narrative that aptly matchesShouvik Roy’s vision. The diverse scenarios of the three characters in the videocreates a powerful story. Shouvik Roy says, “The lyrics encourage the listener to reassess life and embrace this quandary as it is our only choice. After a refreshingly optimistic ‘Come into my Room’, I was keen on exploring a different and mature tenor for my next song and have accomplished it with this alliance with Sunny, Martha and Aditya”.
Shouvik Roy has over 18 years of experience across brand management, advertising and strategic brand consulting. He has worked with several blue chiporganisations and is now running India’s premier Brand Consulting and Design Company - Elephant. Shouvik is a faculty member at noted management institutes and speaks frequently at leading business schools in India.
