PALM Expo 2015 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai sets new benchmarks

PALM™ the globally renowned pro sound & light trade show in India in its 15th successive year is its largest event ever. Music Expo, India’s exclusive B2B trade show for musical Instruments was co located. Presenting limitless opportunities for business, brand building, distribution and promotion of technology to 20,000+ visitors who attended the show over three days, viz 28th, 29th and 30th May 2015 had an array of stalls to gather knowledge on the music business.

Record Participations

The Indian market witnessed participation from more than 400 brands and 160+ exhibitors. PALM Expo this year has increased its floor space by 55%; this includes 37 new companies bringing a fresh sense of wonderment to the show. PALM 2015 was spread across 21,916 sqm of space. This includes some of the renowned show features and highlights which are responsible for attracting trade visitors to the expo.

Exhibitors at PALM

Some of the largest exhibitors this year were; Yamaha, who had an independent presence within the exhibition area in Hall 2B & 2C across 1150 sqm, where they showcased their entire portfolio of Pro Audio & MI in one section of the hall and Live Stage in another. Modern Stage Services were the largest floor space occupant with 450 sqm space and showcased live 3D mapping techniques. IMAX lighting, a Delhi based company had 252 sqm of floor space. Bose Corporation & High-Tech Audio, had their separate Demo Qubes, each measuring 100 sqm space. Few other exhibitors with large scale booths at PALM were Ahuja Radios, Alphatec Audio Video, Dev Electronics, G. M. Audio. Harman International, Hi-Tech Audio Systems, LBT Electronics, Narain Pro Audio Lighting, Pro Visual Audio, Sonotone, Sun Infonet, Trimac Products. PALM has also been chosen as the preferred platform for the Indian market by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Guangzhou (CCPIT Guangzhou), who brought in 13 top brands from China to exhibit within the 117 sqm of space confirmed by the council.

PALM Director, Anil Chopra, profiled the expo “PALM™ has consistently evolved in tandem with the dynamic growth and expansion of the pro sound and light market. Audio visual Integration now attracts channel partners and actual users from across India to PALM. Stage show and DJ technology too attracts event organizers and clubs. PALM is the most important entertainment technology convention attracting increasing international participation from manufacturers and global contractors. Be there or be square!!” Speaking on the occasion, PALM Exhibition Director – Mr. Ramesh Chetwani, said, “PALM has proved to be the ideal platform for delivering business to the pro sound & light market in India. With 55% growth in the floor space this year, it is evident that the industry is all geared to take the next big leap. The constant support of our exhibitors and their faith in us, has motivated our efforts in attracting more and more trade visitors to the show. HARMAN PALM Live Arena enjoys its own private space as stage, sound, light & music come together in a perfect harmony, making it a holistic space for top notch entertainment. With performances from some of the biggest artists and bands, technical seminars and training workshops, the HARMAN PALM Live Arena attracted a lot of dealers and distributors to the trade show.

Once again, the spectacular Integration for Entertainment showcase at PALM was brought by Modern Stage Service. This feature covers an area of 150 sqm and is exemplary in the state-of-the–art technology used in cooperation with leading hardware and software companies offering the latest innovation in systems integration. In lieu to the rapidly progressing importance of professional AV within the entertainment domain, the PALM Expo once again provided visitors an opportunity to experience world’s leading projection & 3D mapping techniques.

In 2014, PALM launched an extension to the exhibition floor, the PALM Demo Qube, which provides audio companies to demonstrate their products and latest features with an ease in a very private cube structure that is specially created for this feature. This year, visitors were able to experience three Demo Qubes at PALM. Yamaha quintupling its size and hosting the demo alongside their booth in Hall 2B & 2C, Hi-Tech Audio continuing the RCF demo and the new addition, Bose Corporation India demonstrated some of its latest edition of sound reinforcement systems.

Prolyte Campus Live Stage at the PALM Prolyte Group brought their successful and exhaustive seminar program to the PALM Mumbai on the Prolyte Campus Live Stage for a third time. The seminars held Live during the show and were free for all visitors. Prolyte Brand Manager Ivo Mulder performed these primarily practical seminars – using his experiences from daily practice. Seminars were held at several time slots during the show. Apart from this, Indian rigging company Natura performed a live demo of how to climb a tower structure safely.

The PALM DJ Soundscape was a ground breaking experience for DJs this year. As compared to the 2014 edition, PALM has invested a lot more in this feature. The PALM DJ Soundscape was spread across 2,088 sqft of space and was fully covered standalone structure providing air-conditioning and general lighting. The PALM DJ Soundscape is curated by Unmute Agency who, along with the DJ Championship Director: Reji, who created top of the line conference, workshop and championship, that saw key celebrity DJs, known figures from the DJ segment and industry leaders to network and share their experience with the DJs visiting the show. The conference & workshop ended with the renowned DJ talent hunt giving the DJ industry 3 new stars! Prizes were sponsored by Pioneer DJ and Co-Sponsored by Yamaha.

Conducted at the Open Ground IV, the line array demo hosted 11 eminent brands that demonstrated their latest line of speakers to over 3,500 visitors from the rental & event background and the event management and advertising fraternity. This year, PALM has taken utmost care of the visitors at the line array demo area.

Into its 9th glorious edition, the Indian Recording Arts (IRA) Awards are the first ever music awards that recognize the music, recording and engineering talent in India. Selected by leading musicians and recording professionals, IRA Awards felicitated the music maestros and the technical & creative contributions by leading sound recordists.

PALM Sound & Light Awards Recognises & Honours Outstanding Service in the field of Stage, Sound & Light. The 2015 edition of the PALM Expo witnessed the PALM Sound & Light Awards spread over 10 technical categories addition to a few more categories that were added in. This fulfils the primary objective of showcasing & recognizing individuals and organizations for their unparalleled contribution to the industry by rendering outstanding services in the field of staging, lighting & live sound in the Indian market in the previous fiscal year.
