EDM goes Indie Rock

Times Music has been working with trance superstars Above & Beyond for the past 5 years, and have an exclusive arrangement with their label Anjunabeats, representing their music distribution, licensing and publishing interests in India. Times Music launched A&B’s new album ‘We Are All We Need’ in India in Jan 2015. As a spin off on the main album, they worked with a few local artistes on doing versions / remixes of the singles from the album.

Several artistes submitted remixes and versions, and two tracks were finally selected by Anjunabeats and Times Music. One is a version recording of the title track ‘We’re All We Need’ by Bangalore based Indie rock band Lagori.  The other a remix of the same track by DJ / Producer Praveen Achary. Both tracks will feature on a special India deluxe release of the A&B album We Are All We Need.

However, it is LAGORI, who caught the attention of the international DJs with their sitar-fused reinterpretation of WAAWN. A&B & Anjunabeats love the track, and they will launch a music video for the song worldwide on their YouTube channel. Lagori’s track will also feature on their iconic Group Therapy radio show – a first for a foreign non-EDM track.

The new tracks will be available on digital as bonus tracks on A&B’s ‘We Are All We Need (India Version)’ album.

Some comments from the A&B group members.

"India is a country that we have a long and deep relationship with… our label Anjunabeats takes its name from a beach in Goa and it is also the country that hosted our very first Group Therapy radio show. It was in the build up to that show that we first became acquainted with Lagori, thanks to their brilliant cover of Sun & Moon. Their music captures the colour and vibrancy of the Indian culture so well and it was an honour to have them put their musical interpretation on We're All We Need, a song which has become one of the most loved from our recent artist album of (nearly) the same name. Bravo."

"Well.... what a treat finding this remix in my email inbox from Above & Beyond HQ! I have no idea why but those opening bars remind me of being barefoot in summer as a child: they break my heart and I would have them on loop forever if I could. I am excited by cultural differences, and when music reflects these in heart-felt ways it draws me in even more ferociously than usual. I want to learn Hindi when I listen to this remix! Every word sounds to me like a piece of poetry.

Back in 2003 when Above & Beyond and I formed our connection they were all about sharing, through music and in spirit: here we are today and this remix exactly sums up how far and wide this beautiful ethos has spread around the globe."
