The very first platform on Indian television to give dance its due respect– Zee TV’s Dance India Dance is set to premiere its fifth season on, 27th June at 9 pm. The auditions have unearthed some spectacular dance talent from across the length and breadth of the country. While all of them have an undying passion for dance, the willingness to learn and an urge to prove themselves, what remains unique is the story each one has to tell.
This year, one of the most unique stories was that of contestant Nirmal Tamang. This 23 year old from Nepal survived the biggest catastrophe that hit the country, the recent earthquake and soon after mustered the courage to live out his dream of auditioning for his favourite dance reality show. Nirmal was on his weekly visit to the famous Manokamna temple, when the deadly tremors first hit Nepal. While the baffled Nirmal was trying to figure what exactly was happening, someone pushed him down from the temple barely seconds before the entire structure came crashing down, leaving behind only debris. Nirmal was miraculously saved, however he lost his grandmother in the ordeal.
While he was still reeling from the shock and loss, he got to know about the DID 5 auditions, for which he had been preparing for quite some time. He picked-up his bag, gathered courage and headed straight to India for the auditions. His father who is a retired army office was sceptical about him coming for the auditions, however his friends supported him and he landed at the audition venue. Nirmal feels that the life-saving thrust he received from a stranger also pushed him towards his goal – DID!
Nirmal is a trained contemporary and ballet dancer and is also a National Taekwondo Champion. He has managed to clear all the preliminary rounds and has entered the television audition around. But will he be able to make a place for himself in the top 15?... Will he get the coveted Taqdeer ki Topi..??
To find out, stay tuned to DID season 5 which premieres onSaturday 27th June, at 9 pm only on Zee TV.
