In a continuing effort to encourage tourism across the country, the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai joined hands with the North East Festival for a second year in a row, to create national awareness about a region rich in culture, tradition and a populace of vibrant individuals. This exclusive programme on North East India – “Colours of North East” was held at the Crystal Room and Ball Room of the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai on 1^st August, 2015.

The evening was filled with live musical performances by North East Indian artists like the Grammy award nominee – The Monks of Bomdila who set the mood of the evening with multi-phonic chanting and eluding a sense of calm. Hailing from Nagaland, adding to the mood was folk fusion band, The Abiogenisis blending classical Naga folk elements from India and modern music while the talented violinist Sunita Khound and vocalist Anaya Brahma left the guests mesmerized. Showcasing ethnic fashion was Meghalaya’s leading designer Daniel Syiem with an emphasis on heritage, hand woven fabric of his home state along with fashion designer Kankana Konwar exhibiting Assam couture and Vaishali encompassing contemporary and traditional wear through her collection.

Everyone from North Eastern dignitaries to Bollywood celebrities like Kiran Rao, Shobha De, Papon, Shekhar Guptato celebrated industrialists like Krishna Kumar and Adi Godrej were seen showing their support and in absolute awe of the talent that was present at the event.
