LIVE Electronica fans in India have a reason to celebrate!American DJ, electronic producer and Saxophonist - Grant Kwiecinski, popularly known as GRiZ will be the headlining act of the innovative music and art platform - EMERGE Festival. Conceptualised by LIVE Viacom 18, ‘EMERGE’ is an innovative music and art platform bringing emerging international artists to Indian shores with the brand philosophy - ‘like never seen before’.
The new season of EMERGE will kick off this month with international act – GRiZ performing across the cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore from 21st – 23rd August, 2015.With LIVE electronic music gaining prominence amongst Indian music lovers, performance by artists such as GRiZ comes as welcome news. Being hailed as a visionary, GRiZ is known for playing the saxophone along with producing funk, electro-soul, and self-described future-funk. Having received fame for his debut album, End of the World Party, in 2011, he ended up supporting bigger artists such as Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, Gramatik, and Big Gigantic on their respective tours, eventually leading to his own headlining tour.
In 2013, GRiZ made top reviews in publications such as Detroit Music Magazine, SPIN, and The Untz, who put GRiZ as the "#1 Breakout Artist of 2013.
Commenting on the return of Emerge,Mr. Jaideep Singh, Sr. Vice President and Business Head-Viacom18 Pvt. Showcasing some of the best sculptures, art installations and live art by talented artistes across the country, EMERGE bridges the gap between India and the global music scenario. Last year the festival witnessed the likes of Grammy nominated British alternate rock sensation, Alt- J, perform to 50,000 people at 24 shows across cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Audiences were privy to a new genre of ‘hang music’, with independent artist ‘Daniel Waples’ along with popular international acts such as ‘Dismantle’, ‘Go Go Berlin’, ‘The Virginmarys’ and ‘These Reigning Days.’
