Flautist Rajeev Raja gave a stunning performance at Qla, Delhi on Sunday 9th August 2015, mesmerizing a crowd of about 450 people with melodious compositions on his flute. Raja traced history on the foot tapping world of Jazz through a musical concert and presentation. The musical evening - “ A Trip Up Memory ” lane from the Origins of Jazz was a kind of live concert-cum-presentation. It was a symphony of Flute, Guitar, Keyboard and Drums presented by JazzAddicts.
Other jazz musicians like Sanjay Divecha on guitar, Karl Peters on Bass, Karan Joseph on Keys, Shirish Malhotra on saxophone and Benny Soans on drums accompanied Raja at the concert. "Jazz originated in America when the white music of the time fused with the music of the African slaves, and from it emerged a form of music we call Jazz today. Over the years, Jazz has been embraced by every culture, which brought its own nuances to the music. Cultures from Africa to South America to Europe to India...all embraced and contributed to the evolution of Jazz," said Raja.
JazzAddicts is an association of serious jazz enthusiasts, bringing world class international jazz to India since over a decade. JazzAddicts endeavors to bring to India classical and mainstream jazz in its finest form. JazzAddicts have initiated jazz-festival series in form of ‘Jus Jazz’. Igor Butman, the world’s class saxophonist from Russia and its band “Jus Jazz ” has been brought to perform in India for 3 consecutive years in 2012, 2013 and 2014 exclusively by JazzAddicts.
Considered one of the country's most exciting jazz and fusion flautists, Raja studied Carnatic music in his formative years, and blends Indian and Western elements in his playing. "Jazz has changed exponentially over the ages. From being a rudimentary expression of a ' field song ' it has become one of the most sophisticated and harmonically superior forms of music today," said Rajeev Raja, Jazz and fusion flautist.
Jazz Addicts aim to recreate a platform for jazz, by bringing in international mythology here in India; so that it motivates the Indian jazz tradition.
