Bieber’s ‘What do you Mean’ climbs to No 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Global superstar Justin Bieber’s brand new single, What Do You Mean, has debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, a first for Bieber. The single goes straight to #1 in Justin’s native Canada, and has earned him his first #1 single hit in the UK. What Do You Mean hit #1 at iTunes less than 5 minutes of its worldwide release seven days ago has now reached #1 at iTunes in more than 90 countries across the globe.

What Do You Mean, which sold over 335,000 units at digitally in the U.S. in its first week out, has broken the Weekly Global Spotify streaming record with over 41 million streams worldwide. The music video and lyric video have amassed a combined total of over 70 million views. In just one week, the single has garnered over 45 million in airplay audience at U.S. radio. The release of What Do You Mean capped a hugely successful viral 30 day Instagram countdown and Twitter lyric reveal campaign, garnering over 100 million impressions.

Justin kicked off a long-range, multi-tiered media campaign in support of What Do You Mean as he returned to the MTV VMAs with the live perform­­ance premiere of the song.  Three nights later, he appeared on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. That was the prelude to his upcoming takeover of NBC’s The Today Show, climaxing with live perform­ances.
