Leading music label, Universal Music has announced the launch of Adele’s highly anticipated new album titled ‘25’ on 20th November, 2015. This is the first offering from the songstress since her Oscar winning single 'Skyfall' in 2012.
Commenting on the forthcoming album, Adele says, “My last record was a break up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make up record. I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did.”
‘25’ is the follow-up to the 2011 blockbuster 21, which spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart -- the most weeks atop the list for any album by a female artist! And for the record - 21 has shipped more than 30 million copies worldwide! The album generated five hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including three consecutive No. 1s: Rolling In the Deep (No. 1 for seven weeks), Someone Like You (five weeks) and Set Fire to the Rain (two weeks).
The lead single off the album, Hello which was released this Friday, has swiftly taken off at the # 1 position on both songs and albums charts on iTunes India within just 24 hours of its release. The song is in line to post the largest ever U.S. digital sales week for a song! The stunning video clocked over 27 million views within the first 24 hours of its release…..right now it’s at a phenomenal 65 MILLION views within 4 days of its release!
The cinematic video for Hello is directed by celebrated Canadian director Xavier Dolan (Mommy, Tom at the Farm). "It was a privilege to direct the music video for Adele's beautiful, heartbreaking song,” remarked Dolan. “When I first heard it, all the images were already running by so clearly in my head - and her trust and generosity allowed me to create freely.”
The video was shot in mid - October outside Montreal where the Canadian director explained, “Being on set with her was wonderful. And the thought of directing her in the ‘acting’ aspect of the term was exciting. I discovered that she's a very talented actress - no matter what she'll tell you.” Dolan further enthused about the collaboration by saying “It was a great experience. Adele allowed me to dive into this full throttle, so I could abandon myself artistically and emotionally, like she always does. It made me extremely proud.” The video also features a cameo by American actor Tristan Wilds (The Wire, The Secret Life of Bees).
Says Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director & CEO, Universal Music Group South Asia, “What an incredible return from ADELE…”Hello’ is such a stunning song. She not just sounds beautiful but looks gorgeous too! `25’ is going to be such an exciting project for us at UMG. Her fans in India are already lapping up the first single with it hitting #1 on iTunes India within hours of its release. We are eagerly looking forward to working this project and bringing ADELE’s new music to her legion fans out here who have impatiently waited for almost 4 years for this new album. This is clearly one of the most awaited International albums of 2015.”
With Hello grabbing all the likes this season it seems like the album is already headed to a blistering start worldwide!
