Monica Sharma Dogra who’s often referred to as the ‘Face of Indian Indie’ is a singer, spoken word performer, dancer, clothing designer, activist and actor. She has acted in many feature films, usually leaning towards what is referred to as “Arthouse Cinema”. The film that brought her to international fame was “Dhobi Ghat” where she was cast as the lead alongside Aamir Khan. In 2014 she launched her first line of clothing under the ecommerce site, Stylista alongside popular designers such as Masaba Gupta.
Monica Dogra is all set to release her debut solo album in January 2016 on Universal Music titled ‘Spit’. 3 years in the making, ‘Spit’ is raw, aggressive and a result of a mix of genres, poetry, searching, love and longing. The 9 track album varies between uplifting beats and rhythms to eclectic electronic vibes which will make you think and feel emotions which normally remain under your skin. It’s essentially a very positive album, intended to re-invent the inner self and emotions. The album features collaborations with music producers from around the world like Robot Koch (Germany), Prash Mistry (UK) of the famous Engine Earz Experiment often referred to as the ‘Massive Attack of the next generation’, Gaurav Raina a.k.a. Grain (India) a Delhi based producer who is well known as one half of The Midival Punditz and Sanaya Ardeshir a.k.a. Sandunes. The album features many more known names from the Indian and international music fraternity.

Monica’s other past notable work includes, appearing in concert with the legendary AR Rahman, singing the title track for the film "Break Ke Baad" with Vishal/Shekhar, presenting four seasons of the Cannes nominated TV Series "The Dewarists", being the first female judge on India’s first English speaking music reality competition TV show entitled “The Stage”, as well as being a correspondent for U.S. VICE Networks new series “Broken Wing”.
