Indian Ocean who are the pioneers of the fusion-rock genre in India have joined hands with the Walk of Hope (An ongoing Kanyakumari-Kashmir padayatra) to support the efforts of the social reformer and spiritual guide - Sri M in a bid to promote inter-faith harmony. The band will perform at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri on 27 February, from 6 p.m.
A lot of well known names such as Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Himesh Reshammiya, Shashi Tharoor among several others have come forth with their support for the Walk of Hope.
Walk of Hope is a 7500 k.m. padayatra (March/ Journey by foot) from Kanyakumari to Kashmir that spans over 500 days to spread the message of peace & harmony by the Manav Ekta Mission. The march led by Sri M, seeks a significantly restored nation—fit enough to be bequeathed to our future generations. The Walk of Hope was flagged off on 12 January 2015, the birth anniversary of a great prophet of interfaith harmony, Swami Vivekananda. Starting from the Gandhi Memorial Mandapam in Kanyakumari, covering 11 states and concluding in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, this initiative aims to reach out to 10 million fellow Indians.
The Delhi leg (Feb 17-March 3) of the 16-month The Walk of Hope will see the famed yogi holding walks, visiting religious places of various faiths, delivering talks and interacting with the public besides constitutional authorities such as the President of India and the Chief Minister of Delhi.
There will also be cultural evenings featuring music concerts—by Manav Ekta Band (IIT Feb 18), Hindustani vocalist Kalapini Komkali (IIC, Feb 22) and choral music (Sacred Heart Cathredral, Feb 28), besides Kathak dance (IIT, Feb 18) and a play ‘Amir Khusro’ (India Islamic Centre, Feb 29). The other highlights of the Delhi round are talks at IIT (Feb 18), IIC (Feb 22), AIIMS (Feb 26) and India Islamic Centre (Feb 29), besides visits to Hindu and Jain temples, churches, masjids, gurdwaras, ashrams, dargahs, educational institutions, night shelters, parks and other public places.
