After performing their last "official" gig at Independence Rock in 2008, Zero, the alternative rock band is all ready to set fire on the big stage at the next edition of Awestrung

A monthly musical property that started in early 2015, Awestrung, a High Street Phoenix initiative, in association with Pepsi MTV Indies and Radio Mirchi, has been instrumental in bringing diverse genres of music and some of the country’s finest musicians, closer to the masses.

The four piece band Zero that was formed in the late 90s in Mumbai, performed their last official gig at Independence Rock in 2008 that witnessed a crowd of about 2000- 3000 people. The band comprises of Rajeev Talwar (vocals), Sidd Coutto (drums), Girish 'Bobby' Talwar (bass) and Warren Mendonsa (guitars). Since the time Rajeev Talwar left the country post their official gig, the band reunites once in a year for an India tour and performs at various pubs and cafes. This time the members of the band, will be flying down to Mumbai specially to perform at Awestrung who are currently residing in different parts of the world. The band will entertain their fans and take them back to their early 2000 era when they created some beautiful songs from their albums- ‘Albummed’ (2000), ‘Hook’ (2002) and ‘Procrastination’ (2005). Hook was named Album of the Decade by Indiecision.

The opening act would be by The Lightyears Explode is a three-piece garage punk band from Mumbai, which was formed in 2009. The band comprises of Aaron Carvalho (drums), Shalom Benjamin (bass) and Saurabh Roy (guitars, vocals). The band released a self-titled EP in March 2011 and released their debut full length record, ‘The Revenge’ of Kalicharan on the 15th of April 2013. Their music has been featured on the third and fourth installments of the Stupid Ditties compilations and have also won Channel V's Launchpad competition in 2011. Since then they have travelled a long way performing shows all around the country and have been featured on the NH7 Weekender roster multiple times.

Followed by the performance of The Lightyears Explode, Blakc is a five-piece hard rock band from Mumbai that will perform at the Awestrung. Formed in early 2006, the band went through two lineup changes before settling down on the present members. As a band Blakc has been composing their own music since late 2007, while entering college competitions at the same time. The band has been a finalist at the Independence Rock and Campus Rock Idols competitions. In December 2008, the band released their first album ‘Choking On A Dream’.

On hosting Zero and the other rock bands at coming edition of Awestrung, Rajendra Kalkar, President (West), The Phoenix Mills Limited, said, “We are happy to host the renowned band of the early 2000, Zero who would be performing at a bigger platform like Awestrung almost after eight years! We are also thankful to them to have made this edition of Awestrung possible inspite of being located in different parts of the world. We hope to see a fantastic turn out from all the fans of Zero, The Lightyears Explode and Blakc!”
