Welcome to the world of Shakespeare, not exactly but in a twisted format in the world created by Beth and Banquo. The Shakespearean tragedy transforms into an hour-long comedy in Rupesh Tillu's ‘Madbeth’, a valiant, one-man effort.
The Swedish National Academy of Mime and Acting student puts the classic on the back burner as he introduces elements of bizarre comedy into his performance. The play is funny, no doubt, but it's not Shakespeare, instead it is a highly interactive physical comedy inspired by Shakespeare’s classic. A profound allegory that dissolves the space between observer and performer. The performance is a combination of slapstick, acrobatics, mime, songs and improvisations.
After ‘Madbeth’s roaring success over the years at opening shows in Mumbai and Delhi, Tillu’s back to tickle your funny bone even though its may last for just an hour or so.
Rupesh holds MFA in Physical Comedy from The National School of Dramatic Arts, Sweden, a bachelor’s degree in commerce and economics from Mumbai University. He has won lot of recognition across the globe from Stockholm Fringe Festival 2012, A Special Jury Award- Best of Prague Fringe Festival 2013 and many more. Now back to India his home ground, he is here to experiment in theatre with Shakespeare’s works.
