It was a big day for eighteen year old Armaan Malik’s who released his self-titled debut music album – Armaan on Thursday at a city hotel in Mumbai. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan unveiled the album along with Salim Merchant from the prolific Salim-Sulaiman duo. The audience was also treated to a performance by Armaan whilst getting a preview of his debut music video Krazy Konnection ft. Salim Merchant. Many stalwarts of the music industry also attended showing their support of the young star including his father – Daboo Malik, Alka Yagnik, Aditi Singh Sharma, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy and film star Poonam Dhillon.
Produced by Amal Malik – the elder sibling of Armaan, the album features seven original tracks and one remix. The sound of the album is contemporary pop encompassing the genres of EDM, R & B and Rock. Sure to strike a chord among club hoppers are the tracks Krazy Konnection ft. Salim Merchant - an up-tempo dance track with an infectious hook and the electro beat heavy Roke Na Koi. Then there’s also the acoustic ballad Leja Zakhm Tere - written and composed by Amal Malik and the romantic, pop / rock infused Bas Is Pal. The album ends with a thumping `dub step’ version of the track Krazy Konnection, this time with a hint of Indian classical.
Salman Khan said a few words during the launch of the album, applauding Armaan saying, “He is one of the most enthusiastic young singers I know along with his brother. To make melody comes from his father but the energy is all them. He’s struck the right chords, the right feel”
Speaking on his album release, Armaan said, “I would like to thank everyone at my record label Universal Music Group India who believed in me and my music, and have helped me along the way in bringing out my debut album. This album stands for me, my world, and my beliefs and I’m very honored to have Salim Merchant’s guidance as my mentor and of course my brother Amal who has put in tremendous hard work in producing the album. I do hope you all enjoy the music as much as I’ve had in putting it together”.
Speaking in support of the young singer Salim Merchant said, “When I met Armaan for the first time he was eight to nine years old, I really felt that he had really got it in him. I fell in love with his honesty and I somewhere see in them, my brother and me, I felt nostalgic. He’s the future.”
Speaking on the occasion, Sunil D’Sa, Vice President, Marketing – Universal Music India said, “This is just the beginning of a long and exciting career ahead for the 18-year old Armaan.
