The Red Bull Tour Bus has made a habit of throwing some of the most fantastic birthday gigs, and Off The Roof this year was no different. With a lineup featuring some of the most diverse acts in the country, the 2000 fans in attendance, at P.J. Hindu Gymkhana in Mumbai on Sunday, were delivered the treat they were promised.
Kicking things off was post-rock act as we keep searching, which got the crowd moving to their experimental sound, including some tracks from their debut album ‘Khwaab’.
The blues/instrumental rock stylings of Blackstratblues went up next, with some soul-stirring compositions, including some unreleased tracks.
Following an incredibly memorable performance at the Global Citizen festival in New York, celebrated multi-instrumentalist and producer Karsh Kale travelled to Mumbai to play at Off The Roof, his first gig in the city in a while. Performing with his ensemble Karsh Kale Sound System, fans were treated to some of the band’s finest tracks, with their trademark, seamless amalgamation of global music with Indian undertones.
Crowd favourite Benny Dayal came on next, taking the tempo up a notch with his ensemble Benny Dayal Funktuation.The renowned Bollywood singer had the crowds singing along to some of his popular tracks, including Tu Na Jaane and On Repeat.
Wrapping up a stellar night was India’s bass king, Nucleya, with a set the entire crowd was eagerly anticipating. He dropped tracks from his latest album ‘Raja Baja’, interspersed with some of his biggest hits of the past years, including Akkad Bakkad and New Delhi Nuttah.
