Mumbai Drum Day 2017 a concert dedicated to the drum-set is being held in the city on February 23rd 2017. The show will feature some of the world's finest and the country's best drummers like Pete Lockett, Gino Banks, Kurt Peters, Swarupa Ananth, Lydian Nadhaswaram, Rhythm Shaw on guitar and Sonu Sangameswaran on bass guitar showcasing their talent on the same platform and spanning all music genres. The Concert Mumbai Drum Day 2017 promises an unforgettable music fiesta for Mumbaikars.
Mumbai Drum Day 2017 will feature world’s best and India’s best players on the same platform showcasing best talent on the Drum Set across all musical genres. Pete Lockett is currently recognized as one of the most versatile multi-percussionists in the world., Gino Banks, son of legendary jazz pianist Louis Banks, was brought up in Mumbai and took up to playing drums seriously since he was 15.
Kurt Peters, coming from a line of musicians in his family, was exposed to music at an early age. His initial learning was based on listening to different musical styles, including Jazz, Funk, Fusion and Popular music among others. Lydian Nadhaswaram is a prodigy and this 10 year old musician who plays the drums with proper tempo with along with the metronome. Lydian was announced as the best and fastest drummer in the nation by Pogo TV Music. This little boy has performed at prestigious concerts as a drummer in countries like Australia and Malaysia during 2010. Swarupa Ananth - disciple of Ustad Allarakha & Ustad Zakir Hussain and has been playing the Tabla for over 20 years. . She is ranked among the county’s mord st innovative young musicians today and has marked her place in the Forbes India 30 under its Under 30 list 2015. Rhythm Shaw is a young talented, rock, fusion, jazz, blues western, classical guitarist from India and has won many classical guitar competitions internationally. Sonu Sangameswaran has been playing electric bass for over a decade now focusing on the global sounds of Latin, hip-hop, electronica and African music integrating those styles with an original sense of groove as well as plays with Bollywood superstars.
Gino Banks curator and Man behind Mumbai Drum Day 2017 says Mumbai Drum Day is a labour of love that is close to my heart and it involves putting together the best drumming talents of our country and as well as the best drummers of the world on to one stage and present an existing energetic musical show to the people.
The organizers point out that their goal is to provide each and every event with a different meaning, identity and vision so as to chart a course of wholesome entertainment and true professionalism for the benefit of the public at large, thus showcasing a rich heritage of music talent in the country.
