The country’s biggest Indie music award ‘Radio City Freedom Awards – 4.0. that acknowledges the best of Indie talent, culminated with a Grand Finale in the city of dreams Mumbai.
After receiving an overwhelming response from Radio City Freedom concert in 6 cities – Bangalore, Pune, Jaipur, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata, the grand award night witnessed an eclectic line of artistes take centre stage and audience grooving to special performances by renowned indie talent like Aisi Taisi Democracy,Paradigm Shift, Sukanti & Anushree and Mumbai’s Finest. The musical journey of Radio City Freedom Awards 4.0 was streamed LIVE by Facebook and will also be televised on 29th and 30th April from 1pm -2:30pm on Channel V.
Speaking on the award night, Ms. Rachna Kanwar, COO Digital – Jagran Group, says, “Radio City Freedom Awards (RCFA) is more than just an award function. It accomplishes the need for acknowledgement in the independent music space which is the space where true revolution is really happening. There is immense talent all across the country that is waiting to be heard and we are happy to take their music to millions of listeners through our theme for Radio City Freedom Awards 4.0 - Sounds of the Soil. This year we have made a conscious effort to reach out to as many artists as possible, in order to make sure that everyone gets a platform to showcase their creativity”.
In an effort to recognize and acknowledge indie talent from nook and corners of the nation, the evening saw established and new indie musicians walk away with top honours at the awards gala. The awards were categorized into the ‘Jury Choice’ and ‘People Choice’ awards. The ‘Jury Choice Award’ across each category was judged by a power packed jury comprising of Bobin James, Atul Churamani, Luke Kenny, Nandini Srikar, Yotam Agam, Munbir Chawla, Vijay Basrur, Naveen Deshpande and Amit Gurbaxani
Nominations for Radio City Freedom Awards -4.0, attracted some biggies from the Indie music circle. Ananthaal, Neeraj Arya's Kabir Café, Demonstealer, Midival Punditz, Brodha V, Papon, Divine were some of the names that featured in the nominations across genres. Neeraj Arya’s Kabir café walked away as the Best Folk Fusion Artist - Jury Choice while Carnage Inc was awarded the Best Metal Artist – Popular Choice. While Shadow and Light bagged the Best Pop Artist – Jury Choice, Midival Punditz + Papon + Malini Awasthi were awarded Indie-Collaboration Jury Choice.
The grand award night hosted by Cyrus Sahukar at the Hard Rock Café Worli on 22nd March 2017 was a musical extravaganza to cherish.
