GRAMMY® Award-nominated multi-platinum artist, fashion disruptor, and King of Teens Lil Yachty releases his full-length debut, “Teenage Emotions” [Quality Control/Motown/Capitol], in stores and at all digital retailers.
Teenage Emotions merges Lil Yachty’s signature gleeful sing-rap and auto-tuned transmissions with hip hop bombast, pop and eighties cultural touchstones. The 19-year-old Atlanta native is proudly genre-defying, mining hip-hop, alternative, indie sounds as well as his hometown Atlanta trap DNA to solidify his mosaic approach.
The 21-track album includes features from Migos, Diplo, YG & Kamaiyah, Stefflon Don, Evander Griim, Grace and Sonyae Elise.
And, as the title indicates, the set is a reflection of young lives right now, from happiness to social media-saturated heartbreak to the dance floor, caught in a sound that effortlessly, constantly bounces from rap to pop to something entirely its own. Personally the nineteen-year-old strives to promote positivity and good vibes. In keeping with his good vibes attitude, Lil Yachty recently made headlines for his inclusive album art.
“It caters to a teenager’s everyday lifestyle-heartbreak, happiness, that vibe when you waking up in the morning getting dressed and you just wanna dance,” says Lil Yachty.
Last night, Lil Yachty made his debut television appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! performing Bring It Back . Additionally, this summer, he brings the album to life on the “Teenage” Tour.
Lil Yachty cruised to the forefront of pop culture in 2016 with 2016 mixtapes Lil Boat and Summer Songs 2 and achieved an RIAA platinum certification for his smash “One Night.” He joined D.R.A.M. for the 5x-platinum Broccoli, receiving a 2017 GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.” Following his initial Summer Songs EP, he dropped three more EPS in addition to the two acclaimed mixtapes—Lil Boat and Summer Songs 2—in less than a year. A highly sought-after voice, he guested on Chance the Rapper’s GRAMMY® Award-winning Coloring Bookand the Fate of the Furious Official Soundtrack plus he appeared on a barrage of other singles (alongside such top guns as Young Thug, Charli XCX, Post Malone, T-Pain and many more), and, most recently, he connected again on Kyle’s Top 10 hit “ISpy.” And all that studio time came in between three electrifying tours, with shows often climaxing with some stage-diving alongside The Sailing Team.
