The event of 10th Glory award 2018 was presented by Jalota Welfare Foundation. It was held on Thursday, 25th January 2018 at Nehru centre (Worli). There were four major awards given to four worthy people who have accomplished in their own fields. It was followed by Bhajan and Gazal Sandhya by Padmashree Anup Jalota and his disciples.
It started by ‘Nritya-Natika’ organized by the group named ‘Krishna Sharanam The Voice of Krishna’. It explained ‘Mahabharat’. It was scripted by ‘Pandit Kiran Mishra’ and ‘Koyal Tripathi’ were as choreographed by ‘Deepak Mazumdar’. After this astonishing act two skilled brothers Anil Jalota and Anup Jalota did ‘Deep-Prajwalan’ by worshipping goddess Saraswati.
The marvellous classical singer Sanjeevani Bhelande sung two delightful songs Sadho maan ka maana tyago and Payo ji maine Ram ratan dhan payo from her album and book ‘Meera and me’. In this song she explained about goddess Meera’s pure love for Krishna in both Hindi and English language.
More colours were added to the event after launching the book ‘Meri Kahani Apni Jubani’. The book was launched by Sudhir Joshi (writer of the book), Pankaj Udhas, Suresh Wadkar, Talat Aziz and Anup Jalota (the person on whom book is written).
“I want people to know about the artists life so, I will launch a book every year in this event about my life’s incidents”. said, by Anup Jalota. “Anupji is a versatile singer and have served bhakti geet from long time. He always shines bright like a sun” said Pankaj Udhas. Many more singers joined this program singing their songs. You had Satyam Anandji, Shailendra Kumar Bharti, Devendra Kumar Bharti and Abhijeet Ghosal.
The event also saw the awards distribution by Anil Jalota, Anup Jalota, Harsha Hinduja, Divya Jain and Pratap Nair of F.E.I Cargo. The first award of Padmashree Bhajan Samrat Pt. Purshottamdas Jalota Sangeet Seva Puraskar was given to veteran violin maestro Padma Bhushan Dr. L. Subramaniam.
Second award of Bhajan Maharshi Pt. Hari Om Sharan Bhakti Sangeet Puraskar was given to well known playback singer Ms. Usha Maneshkar. The third award of Padmashree Dr. Ravindra Jain Bahumukhi Pratibha Puraskar was given to well known playback singer Padmashree Mrs. Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam. They also celebrated her birthday in the event. The last award of Smt. Medha Jalota Shresthtam Medhavi Nrityangana Puraskar was given to Ms. Swati Sinha. They gave one lakh rupees, tulsi tress, Saman patra and Saman chinha (trophy) to the award winners.
“We have started the foundation to promote Indian music and Bhakti geet. We give awards to the people who have triumph in their fields to encourage them. The intrinsic concept to start this award ceremony is, the first ‘Purshottamdas Jalota’ who received Padmashree by government for classical singing. Second, Ravindra Jain who is an Indian music composer and lyricist. Third, Hari Om Sharan popular bhajan singer in India. Fourth, is my wife Medha Jalota who is a classical dancer. We want their name to stay in this world therefore this glory award is organized” said by Anupji.
Anup ji also shared one funny incident in the memory of his wife that was, he asked her why you eat almonds everyday? She replied, “To increase my memory and make it sharp. He again asked did you had it yesterday?” She replied, “I don’t remember anything about yesterday.”
The function ended by Anupji’s Bhajan which included his popular songs like Radha ka bhi shyam ho toh mira ka bhi shyam and Aisi lagi lagan. The event shared love to everyone.
