A praiseworthy musical effort in Mulk

Prasad Sashte has lately had the best run in his life when it comes to music composition and that too in his debut film as a composer. His songs in the recently released ‘Mulk’ has been praised all over.

Prasad’s journey started at a very young age while he watched his father a veteran musician work with the likes of Kalyanji Anandji. He was a rhythm assistant and a rhythm arranger for the duo. His father also worked with the likes of SD Burman, RD Burman, Laxmikant Pyarelal, etc.

So effectively the sense of music comes to Prasad from his father. Prasad adds “I used to play rhythms before also conga.s Then one day my father got me a small keyboard and suddenly I played Papa Kehte Hai song on the keyboard and suddenly my father realized that he somewhat has a knowledge of “Surr”. I had a teacher who used to come home and teach me music, so this is how my musical journey started, I had at least 7 music teachers like Kishore Sharma, Bal Sathe, Tony Pinto, Roberto Curiya he was a pianist in Dadar. I have learnt Indian classical and western classical and then I assisted Monty Sharma in the film Devdas and from there I entered Hindi film industry. I started to work with Pritam and since thenn I have been working with him since a very long time. I was his programmer. I used to produce music for him till his last film. I am making many songs and I looking forward for work as a composer, but I am definitely loving enjoying my work as a music producer. I am really looking forward to work as a composer so yes "Mulk" is definitely a milestone in my career of music”.

Prasad has worked on some huge songs in the recent past.

As far as his journey as a music composer is concerned, he was made to meet Anubhav Sinha by a friend of his which ultimately led to him composing two brilliant songs for Mulk. The songs are Khudara sung by Vishal Dadlani and Thenge Se sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Swanand Kirkire.

Prasad adds that “Anubhavji  told me that there is a project on ghazals so please compose a few ghazals. I composed four ghazals for him and he really loved them. Anubhavji then told me that he was making a film called "Mulk",  which has three songs in it. He told me to compose two songs out of them.  I got a brief on Khudara and Thenge Se and it was really a very big thing for me and Mulk has become a milestone in my musical career.  So this is how I got my first film and now I am really thinking of composing more and more song. Mulk definitely for me and my musical career is a very big incident in my life and because of this, I have really got a very big boost in my career”.
