Indian-American Singer-Songwriter Amanda Sodhi's releases a soulful song

After the success of the peppy funk pop song I Don't Write Sad Songs Anymore, Amanda Sodhi is ready to roll once again. The Indian-American singer-songwriter gears up for her next release, a soulful Hindi ballad, Takiye Pe Sar in collaboration with Drishyam Play.

Directed by Prayrit Seth and shot by ace DOP Prashant Dandekar, the music video features Amanda and talented actress Prithvi Hatte showcasing how old wounds can be healed through new friendship.

"Takiye pe sar rakhte hi, aate hain kya yaad tumko bhi, woh sapney sabhi, jo humne kabhi, ek saath dekhe they haseen?" These haunting lines from the song captivate the mood of the listener from the get-go, while the video takes us on a beautiful journey. However, the inspiration behind this ballad was Amanda’s own personal roller coaster ride dating back to the year 2011. It was after her first breakup that the thought for Takiye Pe Sar was conceived.

In her own words, Amanda reveals, "Takiye Pe Sar actually began as a small poem way back in March 2011 after my very first breakup in the States," said Amanda Sodhi. "Toward the very end of 2012/early 2013, I expanded the poem into a song, with Andrew Ferraro attached as the music producer. However, I did not release the song at the time. When I was gearing up to release my very first EP, I revived this ballad; my bandmates added their important inputs on arrangements and my friend Ashwin Srinivasan was kind enough to help with further music production on the track. However, my band disbanded and the EP never released. Fast forward to April 2018 when my single Puppet Life released - I was feeling very disheartened with my turbulent journey through music in India. It was at that time Manish Mundra asked me if I would like to do a song for Drishyam Play in Hindi. I sent him the rough mix I had of Takiye Pe Sar, and he fell in love with the song immediately and connected me to Mukta D. Bhatt. Vishal J. Singh helped with music production and arrangement this time around, and musicians Siddharth Nair (flute) and Writam Changkakoti (piano and keys) worked their magic. With each revision, the track has only become more powerful, so the long journey has been worth it, after all."

Amanda has been garnering praise from the who’s who of the music industry, right from Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman to Padma Shri-winning singer Hariharan. Her earlier songs,Behind My Sunglasses and Jigsaw Puzzle have topped OKListen's charts.Amanda's work has aired on MTV Indies, Channel V and Vh1.
