The 4th edition of Škoda Auto presents Hungama Bollywood Music Project, Asia’s largest music festival came to a fitting end with performances by over 60+ artists over 2 days. Beating the Mumbai heat, families, couples, bachelors, collegiate, yuppies, teetotalers; people turned up in big numbersto watch their favorite artists perform.The festival was nothing short of pure, unadulterated extravagance. Situated in the heart of Mumbai, Jio Garden played a perfect host to Skoda presents Hungama Bollywood Music Project 4.0.
Day 1 began with a delightful performance by singer and YouTube sensation Anirudh Bhola who started the music festival with a soulful song from the movie Nasha. Next on the lineup was Punjab di kudi, Singer Akanksha Bhandari who grooved audience on the tunes of songs from Fukrey Returns and Namaste England. The audience roared when The Yellow Diary band started off with the rock version of Kabira from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani followed by Gazabka Hai Ye Din from evergreen Qayamat se QayamatTak and Ye Dil Deewana from movie Pardes.
A musical performance is never complete without reminiscing the tracks of 90s. Singing the 90’s hits like Akhiyon se Goli Maare, O Ho Jaanejana, Muqabla Muqabla, Zara Zara and others, group performance by singers Ashish Chhabra, Rimi Nique, Mansheel Gujral, Sharvi Yadav, Siddhant Sharma & Thomson Andrews took the audience to a nostalgic trip down the memory lane.
Taking back to memory lane, Zubeen Garg who paid tribute to legendary playback singer- Kishore Kumar regaled the audience with songs like Chingari Koi Bhadke from Amar Prem, Rim Jhim Gire Sawaan from Manzil.
Music lovers gathered in large numbers as singer Javed Ali whose name the crowd chanted loudly sang some of his popular songs like Jash-E-Bahaaraa from Jodha Akbar, Guzarish from Ghajini, Tu Jo Mila from Bajrangi Bhaijaan, DilI badat from Tum Mile. Benny Dayal, Shefali Alvares FT. Funktuation & The Horn Flakes started off with a peppy number Daaru Desi from the movie Cocktail followed by Ek Main aur Ekk Tu, BadtameezDil from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Nacho Saare Ji Phaadke from Happy Ending and Oh Gujariya from Queen. Singer Vishal Dadlani gave a pleasant surprise to audience as he joined Benny and together they grooved the audience with Disco Deewane from SOTY.
Sukhwinder Singh, inarguably one of the most energetic and accomplished artists in Bollywood, gave a power packed performance making everyone nostalgic by singing songs like Nasha hi Nashahai, Ramta Jogi from Taal, Haule Haule from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Beedi Jalaiyele from Omkara, Kar Har Maidaan Fateh from blockbuster movie Sanju
The major highlight of the Day 1 evening was the performance by Maharashtra’s sensation Ajay Atul. The crowd cheered loud and applauded them once they came on stage. In their trademark style, duo Ajay- Atul started off their performance with an ode to Lord Ganpati and a Marathi “Gondhal”. The duo was joined by playback singer Mohammad Irfan who mesmerized the audience with a touching song Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin from the movie Agneepath. As the crowd cheered more, the duo sang millennial favourite song Yad Laagla from the superhit Marathi movie Sairaat. The audience was visibly excited and charged up, jumping up when Ajay Atul concluded their act with Zingaat and Deva Shree Ganesha from the movie Agneepath.
Day 2 kicked off with an electrifying performance by Harish Moyal, Humsufi band, Apoorv, Jyotica, Zublee Baruah, Pawni Pandey, Akasa. The next two names need no introduction. Famous singer AamanTrikha, and Pawni Pandey whose voice is loved by all set the mood just right with their performance. They got everyone dancing to the tunes of Nadaan Parindey and Phir Se Ud Chala from the superhit movie Rockstar, Go Go Govinda from the movie Oh My God.
This was followed by a splendid performance by one of the top orchestra bands from Kolkata, Humsufi. They came up with their unique sound of Sufi Fusion which they call SUFUSION. Giving unique combination of authentic Sufi tunes to popular songs like Mere Rashke Qamar, Kinna Sohna Tenu, Piya re Piya re and Saanson Ki Mala Pe, Humsufi kept their performance soulful yet energetic.
Singer Divya Kumar, who has given various hits like Shubhaarambh from Kai Po Che, Sun Saathiya from ABCD2 paid tribute to Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and performed his classic hits and virtually cast a spell on the audience. He began with songs like Tere Bin Nai Lagda Dil, Allah Hu, Mera Piya Ghar Aaya O Raamji, Mere Rashke Qamar.
As the sun set, Mithoon took the stage and sent people into a tizzy. Sonu Kakkar, Tinu Kakkar and Shilpa Rao came together for an epic collaboration that saw all of them showing their passion for music with their singing and their use of musical instruments while entertaining the audience. Shilpa Rao was the surprise element for the audience as she performed on one of her most loved song Tose Naina Laage”.
The above performance was soon followed by a group performance by Ranjit Barot and Musafit FT., Jonita Gandhi and Digvijay Singh. They rocked the evening with Bollywood chartbusters like Pukarta Chala Hoonmein, Sasural Genda Phool from Delhi 6, Chicha Leather – Gangs of Wasseypur -2”.
Next on the list was Singer Papon who enthralled the audience with his soul stirring numbers like Moh Moh Ke Dhaage from Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Later Ronkini Gupta joined him. Together they thrilled the audience with ChaavLaga and made it truly a pleasant Sunday evening.
Taking the audience on a musical roller coaster was Raftaar with his foot tapping rap. The crowd went wild as he sung his famous number Swag Mera Desi. Deep Kalsi, Harjas, Karma, Kidshot, Krsna and Yunan, later joined Raftaar as they sung numbers like Baby marwake maregi and Bandook Meri Laila. Not only were they great, but they also surprised the audience with their splendid performance.
The last performance of the evening and the Bollywood music festival was the most special. Amit Trivedi started with his solo performance as he sung numbers like “Pushmina Dhaagoke Sang”, Manja – Kai Po Che, Muze Chod Do Mere Haal Pe, NayanTarse – Dev D, Sawaar Loon, IK Kudi amongst others. Later he was joined by a group of four artsist including Zublee Baruah, Singer Divya Kumar, Jonita Gandhi and others. Together they went on a music marathon with songs like Iktaara, Love You Zindagi, and Pareshaan, leaving the audience spell bound.
The audience’s reaction to each and every slot was a validation enough of the sheer love and success of the show and Bollywood Music. Nothing less than a fete, Jio gardens was vibrant with food, shopping stalls and absolute repertoire of music played..Clearly, Bollywood Music Fans have a destination – Bollywood music project, which they can call their own now.The very exciting and successful fourth edition, has left the Bollywood music lovers already awaiting the next season and wanting for more.
