For the first time ever, Red Bull Music will be in Kochi for a special gig featuring superstar singer and songwriter Benny Dayal, 15-piece rock band Thaikkudam Bridge and pop rock band Thakara. The gig will be held at Marine Drive Ground on the 24^th of November.

One of the most sought-after names in the music industry today, Benny Dayal is a distinguished singer, songwriter, performer and reality show mentor, amongst other things. He started his career as a playback singer for a Rajnikanth film, and there’s been no looking back for him ever since. In 2011, alongside his film music career he established an indie music band, Funktuation, with which he continues to tour regularly. Over the years, Benny Dayal has collaborated and performed with artists such as A.R. Rahman, Karsh Kale and Nucleya, sung songs for films such as Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Ghajini, Befikre and more, and featured on a variety of television shows, including The Voice India. Aside from his many credentials, Benny Dayal is also known for being able to sing in over 10 languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Assamese and more.

A mammoth 15-piece band, Thaikkudam Bridge was co-founded in 2013 by vocalist and violinist Govind P Menon. Although a rock band in essence, Thaikkudam Bridge’s soundscape is built upon elements of folk and classical sounds of India, interspersed with layers of progressive, pop, ambient and electronic textures. Their debut album, Navarasam, was released in 2016 and includes songs that talk of existentialism, socio-political commentaries, rebellion, freedom and the human spirit. Their second album, Namah, is currently in the works, and features songs in Hindi, Malayalam and even English. Over the years, Thaikkudam Bridge has played to thousands across the world, including shows in London, Connecticut, multiple cities in Australia and more.

A Kochi-based band, Thakara was formed after singles released by its founder James Thakara captured the attention of listeners in Kerala in 2012. The popularity of the tracks ‘Puttu Pattu’ and ‘Podi Penne’ led Thakara to put the band together with Ashwin Nath, Sreekanth Bhasi and the Bengaluru-based John Joel. The band insists that their music, which talks of the system, politics and corruption, does not fall strictly under any one genre. The band is currently working on its debut album.
