Aastha Gill and Akasa team up for all all girl pop anthem ‘Naagin’

A buddy track is only as good as the chemistry between its buddies, but this girl-on-girl collaboration is the perfect kickstarter for major party season.

Akasa and Aastha Gill, one of the most promising and chic female pop acts in the country, will have the nation dancing to their much-anticipated maiden pop collaboration Naagin.

Known for her massive Bollywood hits Aithey Aa, Kheech Meri Photo and chartbuster singles Maaserati, Thug Ranjha, Akasa  has been a close friend of the widely popular playback singer Aastha Gill who has sung Buzz and Proper Patola since over half a decade.

Composed and written by ace Bollywood songwriter Vayu, the single also packs in an international flavour with some hard hitting moombahton drops by Dutch music producer Akshe Puri aka Puri who has been acknowledged by the likes of Steve Aoki, Hardwell, and Diplo.

With an aim to top your BFF playlists Naagin is a scorcher of a track that is perfect for every girl's night out (or night in!), and the music video will have you reaching out for your bestie and heating up the dance floor. It’s hard to miss the subtle message of “behind every successful woman is a tribe of other successful women , who have her back” being metted out in the video. The club anthem is picturised on how girls can unabashedly let their hair down and enjoy themselves without any restrictions, owning their individual vibe! Adding that extra girl power, this party anthem video is directed by Sneha Shetty Kohli, who has worked on films like Simmba, Chennai Express, Singham and upcoming Sooryavanshi as Chief Assistant Director.

Commenting on the video, Aastha Gill says, “The idea for the video came up from the premise that women shouldn’t feel threatened by intimidating, cool, powerful women but befriend them instead”

Akasa who’s recent single Maaserati with Tanishk Bagchi & Vayu was used for a flash mob performance at the Times Square in New York adds, “It is often portrayed that artistes in this industry can only be rivals because of the cut-throat competition. Naagin proves that wrong by having two Queens celebrate each other and have fun!”

Speaking about the song Vayu says, “The vibe of the sound is Desi Indian Truck Art! it’s fun, confident, unique and an all- out celebration!”
