Gigue brings to you a beautiful garland of such Bhakti and Sufi compositions through Rendezvous 2.0, a Unique Bhakti and Ibaadat confluence presented by noted Bollywood singer Nandini Srikar and Classical and Fusion singer Chandana Bala Kalyan on 16th November, 2019  at Kaifi Azmi Park, Juhu, 6 pm onwards.

The ‘Bhakti’ movement is much more ancient and similarly saints like Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya, Purandaradasa, Kanakadasa, Annamaya to name a few, gave the message of oneness in goal and the inclusiveness of Hinduism through their couplets, poetry and music.

‘Sufism’ is all about unravelling the divine truth and concreting one’s relationship with the creator. Each one interprets the same in the way he or she would approach spiritual and practical life. The great sufi saints like Rumi, Nizammudin aulia, Moinuddin chisti, Amir Khushrow, Nanak, Kabir, gave spiritual and practical “how to live life” messages to the world thru poetry and music. In today’s world it is known as Sufi Music made famous by greats like Ustad Nusrat fateh Ali Khan, Begum Abida Parveen, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to name a few…

Nandini Srikar has recorded songs for feature films for various music directors including Shankar - Ehsaan Loy, Anu Malik and Dhruv Ghanekar. She has contributed her compositions to feature films, ‘Chalte chalte’, ‘Ra One’. Her vocal collaborations include live masters like Trilok Gurtu, Wally Badarou, Shri and DJ Badmarsh, Richard Bona, Ranjit Barot, Lesle Lewis. She has also toured extensively and has performed at several venues and jazz/world music festivals.  The song Bhare Naina received critical acclaim for her rendition and also won her the Global Indian Music Academy (GIMA) Award in 2012.

Chandana Bala Kalyan is a class Playback Singer for Films and Classical Dance. An Independent artist experiments with genres such as Indian Folk, Sufi, Devotional and Jazz Creator and the performer of an Indian multi genre concept called “MARMA- A confluence of Bhakti poetry” Band member of Sanjay Divecha and Secret, Rajeev Raja Combine, Indiva and Sivamani Trio. She has featured in the album ‘Bada Boom’ by Ranjit Barot in the track called Supernova alongside Ustad Zakir Hussain and Mastreo U. Srinivas.

They will present the Sufi and bhakti compositions in a very contemporary manner and a classy way. It is expected to be jam packed and star-studded night with celebrities and musicians from Bollywood expected.
