Mallika Mehta – India’s Adele releases debut album

She has been compared to UK’s Adele who has been her music idol from the time she heard her songs and to be compared to her puts her on cloud 9.

Music has always and will always been her first love. Singing is something she loved; right from the time she was about 5 years of age. Singing the song Waka Waka by Shakira for a school competition won her laurels from her peers even before the winner was announced. She won the competition hands down. This is one memory Mallika Mehta cannot forget. It was then that she knew that it was music that she would take up, something more than just a hobby.

Her debut album “Evolve” which she has just released is a story of one-sided love and getting over it. She states, “The Story of Her, just as the tag line suggests is the story of a girl next door, the story of a girl in love. My EP is a story unplanned but carefully falling in line to highlight the multitude of phases a girl faces when in love. She may end up with the one she loves or tables may turn what matters is how she emerges victorious.”

Her single Finally Free is part of the EP and appears at the end of the album. “Finally Free turned out to be the perfect ending to my EP, Evolve: The Story of Her” she says. “The song is very positive, be it the music or the lyrics. Finally free talks about being confident, being powerful, being a hustler, being self-assured but most importantly loving yourself. In any situation, what really matters is to be able to emerge victorious and that’s what Finally Free is all about. In the EP it may talk about love, but as an individual song it can definitely fit any situation.”

Aside from singing, Mallika has been actively involved in charity and raising funds for Cancer Patients Aid Association. “Doing something for the society is an amazing feeling. If my voice can be instrumental in doing good, I’d always be up for that. Personally, I’ve always disliked the concept of smoking. Not in relation to singing but in general. Being a singer it is an even bigger no. It probably wouldn’t do much harm at the time, but eventually it ruins something you’re most proud of” the songstress states.

Mallika tends to dream big and dream a lot. Her biggest dream would be to go on tour and have her music played, heard and most importantly sung back to her when being performed.

The entire EP is also available on 45+ music stores globally, including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, SoundCloud, iHeartRadio, under her name.
