The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) brings to you an eclectic mix of cultural performances from artistes across the globe as part of its ongoing digital series, ‘NCPA@home’. The curated series presents engaging content that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your home.

Starting 3rd June, the NCPA@home digital series is adding another dimension to its weekly broadcasts. Its showcase of events from the International, Indian and Western Classical Music, and Dance genres aside, the NCPA has joined hands with Tata Literature Live! to stream a stimulating session from Mumbai's premier annual literature festival every Wednesday at 6 pm.

Art & Activism by Carnatic vocalist, writer, activist and author T.M. Krishna

Date: 3rd June 2020

Time: 6.00pm IST

The first session to be streamed under this culture-meets-literature initiative features a straight talk titled Art & Activism by Carnatic vocalist, writer, activist and author T.M. Krishna, who will be speaking about the intersection of the individual and the art.  This event was a part of Tata Literature Live, the Mumbai LitFest, held on November 16, 2018, at the Tata Theatre, NCPA.

NCPA International Jazz Festival ’19: Jam Session

Date: 4rd June 2020

Time: 6.00pm IST

A tantalizing jazz session with 25 musicians from across the world, NCPA@home brings to you the finale of the International Jazz Festival ’19 consisting of all the participating musicians including a repertoire from the Great American Songbook. Expect to hear some stellar musicians, fabulous improvisation and above all – the highest standards of jazz music ever heard in the city that will have you craving for more.

Bringing together percussion from three music traditions: North and South Indian art music, and Indian folk music, world-renowned percussionist Zakir Hussain and young Anantha Krishnan, grandson and disciple of the legendary mridangam maestro Palghat R Raghu, will strike a conversation with their respective instruments. They will be joined by Navin Sharma who is a disciple of Zakir Hussain’s father, the legendary maestro AllaRakha. Sabir Khan, son and disciple of the legendary sarangi maestro Sultan Khan, will provide melodic context for the rhythmic improvisations. This event was staged at the Tata Theatre on December 11, 2016 as a part of NCPA's annual traveling festival titled 'Citi-NCPA AadiAnant: from here to eternity’.    

Symphony Orchestra of India

Opera gala celebrating the days of Moscow in Mumbai

Date: 6th June 2020

Time: 6.00pm IST

A special opera gala featuring some of the most popular excerpts from operas by Verdi, Donizetti, Mozart and more. The Symphony Orchestra of India was joined by leading singers from Russia: soprano AntoninaVesenina, mezzo soprano Alina Yarovaya, tenor Alexey Tatarintsev, and bass GrigoriSolovyov. Conductor Mikhail Shekhtman led this evening celebrating the 50th anniversary of the NCPA.

Hasati by Priyadarsini Govind

Date: 7th June 2020

Time: 6.00pm IST

Performed at the NCPA Mudra dance festival in 2019 themed on Hasya or Humour, Hasatiwas performed by PriyadarsiniGovind brings together the elements of humour and its different shades in Indian poetry through Bharatanatyam.
